Just a small suggestion to your skill build is that you could try a separate build which I think works better where you max Quill Spray first in the Pattern of: 1:W 2:E 3:W 4:Q 5:W 6:R 7:W 8:E 9:Q 10:E 11:R 12: E 13:Q 14:Q 15:Stats 16:R
I find it works really really well for securing an early kill if a low HP enemy is getting away as the higher skilled Quills do enough to finish them off. I normally play with my friend in voice when he is playing Spirit Breaker as a combo as it has great synergy to dominate our lane early game and scale into late game.

Hmmm...I have to disagree with a few things. First, Hood/Pipe is kind of situational, not really core. It is a waste of money when facing physical damage. Blade mail is bad in my opinion because Bristleback is designed to reduce damage, so Blade Mail returns less. A heart of Tarrasque is a better buy in my opinion. As for Medallion, Bristle doesn't need mana regen past about lvl 4 because of his intelligence gain. I level quills first because you can use it for last hits and harassing, whereas 99% of the time, you shouldn't need goo until a few levels later because it is used mostly for chasing. Finally, phase boots suck on Bristleback. When chasing/being chased, you are most likely spamming spells, which cancels the phase. Just my opinion though, I guess different builds work for different people.

Hey I really like your item build and progression, especially the Radiance rush on Elder Hog-very aggressive and effective if you get free farm. Medallion is not my favourite item, so I usually rush Vanguard first, but thats personal preference.

Add BKB to your situational, since Bristleback is super prone to CC and nukes especially early on.

But otherwise, great build!!

You're right,he is prone to CC,but then again,he should be taking the punishment in a fight so your carry doesn't.If they see a big shiney porcupine heading straight into the enemy lines, won't that make people keep their cooldowns and cast spells on your other team members?

Still,in some cases, might be viable so I've added Black King Bar.

Why no BKB in situational?
I consider it a solid choice for every carry.

Unless your opponent lack stuns or magic nuke threats (but mostly stuns, since a Pipe or Hood take care of magic nukes). At that time, you spent a lot of gold for a bit of HP and an active that wont come into play enough to be worth the cost.

Doesn't happen often, but it does in pubs enough for it to be considered situational.

Really situational means "look at what your opponent is working with, what you are weak against, and weigh that with it's cost for a final decicion."

imo goo at lv 1 is more useful than spray, it can net you a 1st blood or as an escape mechanism if needed

He's not a carry that should get radiance. He seems more suited for a trilane, or a mid. and in both cases, He will need to lvl nasal goo instead of Bristleback.

Nasal goo is what give him gank potential. That being said, medallion is perfect for him, and gives needed mana regen. But Vanguard might be a waste of money. You already have the stout shield and the armor from Medallion of Courage The vanguard will contribute very little damage reduction. you could get the regen and HP from other Items for much cheaper. Perhaps consider building a Rod of Atos and Tranquil Boots? Either way, I'm just not a fan of vanguard. if being a tank is that important, Mekansm will make him tankier, and have more benefits for the team. Plus he can build mek before the support.

I've tried him mid, and if I don't neglect nasal goo, he can fill the mid role with success. Though I think he's better in an offensive trilane. the armor reduction in early game melts everyone.

I also stated that the Radiance build was the older build used in like 6.55 versions. But it still works.

Its like a free taunt.Makes enemies attack you so the Radiance doesn't burn them to death. Also, Bristleback is a pseudo-heal,meaning that it doesn't block damage, but it heals bck the amount that should have been blocked. Its the same with backtrack.

Nice guide Wulfstan, I play BB quite in the same way but I prefer to max Bristleback as second skill (the only exception is when you lane against 2 nabs).

@scoreman56 we use to get Radiance on BB to maximise the AoE damage during teamfights.

Yesterday I also did a guide of Bristleback, check it and let me know your ideas My guide for Bristleback
