Look guys I just wanted to make a point how game "reviewers" are completely unaware of the mechanic of dota2 and how much flame can they give them because LoL is more mainstream and more popular. It's the same thing with AMD and NVidia, when NVidia gfx's are used in most gaming pc's the 7970 is used on mainy all the supercomputers.

So this is mainly what is wrong with PCGamer and IGN revies, beeing uncertified, dumb, bad and acting like a Fanboy.

I read the whole review. I have to agree, their arguments did lack certain aspects of the game that should have been a part of their debate. The info on Dota was lacking, making the argument slightly off-balance. =P

But I wouldn't take the "Debate" seriously, they often do them on PCGamer and other gaming sites.

This too.

Frankly I think they could have picked a better subject to debate about, rather than choosing one of the ones that causes the largest numbers of unnecessary flame wars.

But, professional reviewers these days can be that ways sometimes. Is why I just dont subscribe to any magazines anymore or go to those sites.

I honestly don't care about reviews written for LoL or Dota, or anything in the genre.

So far that I've seen, the person writing the review doesn't even begin to really play the game before they start talking about it. They might rack in 24 hours or so in Dota, then proceed to call the game aesthetically pleasing but the community and gameplay leave much to be desired, when the fact is, you can spend a thousand hours playing the game and you still learn something new about the game quite often. The time period that many of these reviewers play the game is just too short to actually be able to rate the game reliably. This goes for LoL or any other Dota-style game too.

It's stupid, how people debate over this kind of stuff, hell a debate can be made on this topic but not like that, I mean not an un-ballanced debate deffinetely. I never read these kind of reviews on PCG or IGN but it's stupid how they've choosen THE worst topic to debate about and heck they did it in an unequally manner.

This is similar to the BF3 vs MW3 debate. In forum circles it gets out of hand fast, but somehow reviewers can relate two games that are fairly different to each other.

Still.

BF 3 = Very complex and realistic
COD = Same game every year + very easy to play

Just because its more simple doesn't make it an easier game. Quake was a simple game, its one of the most competitive shooters out there, same with Unreal Tournament.

Granted that BF3 is just an all around better produced and polished game, I would never want to play Battlefield in a competitive seen.

Edit: That reminds me...you still haven't played me in CoD4.

They are too different to compare in my opinion. Similar to LoL and Dota, (though they are more the same).

But this is off topic. The point is that people have a tendency to compare any games that are remotely similar. I'm just laughing secretly at the lack of HoN in most of these debates. =P

Because at first HoN wasn't another game, it was a direct port of DoTA, all the original heroes/kits. Now they're trying to do their own thing, but it clearly isn't working out.
