Shouldn't ever pick up midas on Necro...

Necrolite is a carry if he gets levels and farm. This means mid lane. He is a carry once he gets items like Mekansm, Heart and Bloodstone. It's not his right click damage. It's his teamfight presence. For one, he and his team are incredibly hard to kill with the amount of sustain he brings to the fight. If he kills an enemy hero, he gets awesome regeneration on top of that. He's just hard to kill. Secondly, the longer he is there, the more damage he will do with Hearstopper Aura. Always get a Mek on him, unless you have someone like a Chen on the team who would have priority over you. In which case, you can take Pipe instead.

Necrolyte can definitely be a carry, perhaps not a conventional one with massive right click, but a carry none the less.

Either you start as a carry and go from there, or his farming speed means he can go from support -> carry. Sadist and Death Pulse work brilliantly together once you have a decent number of levels in both.

The funny thing is that most people don't see him as too much of a threat, but he has amazing survivability with the right equipment, and Reaper's Scythe can suddenly turn an encounter on it's head.

Personally I like the Aghanim's Scepter + Bloodstone combo on him - your health and mana pools are so big that you can be constantly spamming Death Pulse and swinging the fight your way.

Like I said, any form of survivability on him works great. And not only is Death Pulse a great nuke, it brings so much survivability for your whole team. The only bad thing I can say about Necrolyte is that until you get your Arcane boots or Mek, your pretty lack luster early game, terrible level one ultimate.

Also, Aghanim's on Necro is a big no-no. The extra damage is almost minimal, and it scaled really bad at level 3. If you want more damage from his ulti, get a Veil of Discord. It actually will cause your ulti to do more damage than with Aghs. This is actually true for several heroes. Sand Kind and Obsidian Destroyer are the others. While Aghs does give some good stats as well, if you're just looking for raw damage, consider just getting Veil.

Another non-standard carry that I like is Earthshaker.

He can instakill supports, and whack carries for half their HP. It's insane. Not to mention, his fissure and ulti are still always useful. If you have free-farm, try to rush a Battle Fury. If you don't have the free farm for it, just go ahead and grab your Phase Boots, and then go for Shadow Blade. Drum of Endurance is also okay to get before Shadow Blade if you're having a really bad lane. After that, go for your Crystalys and Daedalus. This is your core. Be creative with what you get after your core.

Earthshaker carry can be lol-tastic if he gets a crit on his totem...not sure it's always a good idea thou :)

Weird on Necro, I thought the maths pointed to Aghanim's being better than Veil (1.2 is higher than 0.9 * 1.25 = 1.125)?

Guess it depends on whether that 25% magic reduction is a flat reduction (i.e. if they had 25% magic resistance, they have 0% after veil), or is scaled, (i.e. 25% reduction of 25% resistance = 18.75%).

In the above example, that would mean they both did 900 damage with a flat resistance reduction, and 738 with scaled?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Overall I think that Veil is better for the job, its synergizes with your AoE spammable nuke, and is AoE in itself to help any other spells your team has.

I don't know the math, but as far as I'm concerned, its a better pick up.

Necro be a carry is possible, tanker and support too.
You just need to farm a lot, do the right itens, and use your ultimate in the other mages to instantly kill them.
Perhaps, I never tried to do this. I will try it next time I play Necro.
You should give a link for us to see a game like that. Sorry for my bad english, i'm still learning haha =\

Guy's we forgot about the Battle Shadow Shaman were you get Refresher and Scepter and destroy everything with 16 super snakes.

On the cary Necro discussion has anyone rushed Radiance is a serious game? If you used veil with your passive and radiance that might actually hurt.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.

I have a 3-0-12 game were I rushed Radiance if you want...more of a stomp though. Radiance really isn't rushed on him, you want your Mek and your other survival item first.

Shaman with Aghs/Refresher can hurt like **** but when it comes to late game, an enemy carry can just farm them easily. Just depends on whether you can get Aghs/Refresher at a reasonable time or not.

Another one would be Windrunner. She honestly can fill any role. But Crit/Aghs/MKB on Wind will melt anyone with that ulti, plus her windrun mean no other carry can go toe-to-toe with you until they get MKB (but at that point you're kinda screwed).

Doesn't purge remove Windrun?
