I've been playing Dota 2 for 3 months now, played the original Dota just a little then jumped to HoN. And I've been thinking on ways to improve Dota 2 for everyone with the things I actually missed from HoN.
1.) A "Kicking" system - We always had have a team mate who is a serial feeder and we know that our game would have been and will be so much better without him.
2.) A rather fair Matchmaking system - HoN have a matchmaking system that when you solo queue you will not be matched up against a whole team of 5 players who queue as a group or player who queue as group of three or four. No more being pitted against player who have similar names.
3.) A clear indication that the hero has a Linken's Sphere - I do not have a good eye since my vision is not 20-20 and not clear due to genes and lack of sleep (due to studying, not playing a game) but I cannot distinguished if the hero has a Linken's Sphere from the hero itself unlike in HoN where there's a clear indication of the Null Stone(?) although I do not suggest that Dota 2 implement the same terrible animation/indication.
Of course the Concede System will never be implemented in Dota 2 because if it will be it will get abused by players or group of players who are only after items since you'll have a chance to get dropped item every post game. Now before you flame me on going back to HoN let me just say that it will not happen, I love Dota 2 that much hehe and they are just suggestions...So what's yours?
I think you're trying to make it too much like HoN. You should always have a good support that's always checking the inventories of the heroes, or you should do it yourself. It's a clear blue sphere. What's to miss? The "kicking system" is another very bad idea. Think about what the bad people will do? If you're helping your team but people don't like you, you're bound to get kicked.
For the Matchmaking thing: Apparently they will be adding a team matchmaking thing soon. In the meantime, you can add tonnes of people who play DotA2 and are good at it, so you never end up with Russians.
OK, forget about the Linken's sphere but I really want a matchmaking system that will not pit me against a 5-man, 4-man team when I solo queue. Had a game yesterday that ended with most of my allies without a complete boots. I looked at an enemy's dota profile during the game and saw that 4 of them were queuing together for quite a time and commented that they have a nice team and teamwork and one of them replied that they are not a team and my face was like...
The ability to kick people out of the game seems like it would be easy to abuse by premade teams and well, people have bad games and I feel like they should be able to finish even if they started out very poorly.
The matchmaking thing seems good. There's definitely an edge for premade teams and (if possible) they should match them together. I actually like how LoL does this that if you queue with 2 people you will be matched against another team with a 2 man premade, 3,4,5,0 etc.

By preference, Dota 2 will pair you against another pre-made, however if no other pre-mades are available you will be matched against a team of randoms.
I consider dota 2 stacking broken right now. since Valve haven't implemented team matchmaking yet.
Like LAN, it will come. but for the meantime, we just wait.
Though item like linkens didn't have any indicator in Dota 1, Ahganim's Scepter changes a hero's appearance and all auras have visuals.
afaik valve implemented auras but removed it since it looked horrible from what I heard.
Visual indicators would be good though. but then adding a lot of items like eul's scepter, guinsoo's scythe, blink dagger, etc. would be a lot.
