As the title implies, I've played DoTA a very long time ago, taking part in many a LAN party back when it was still a mod on the Lich King. After Dota2 came out, I played very mildly, barely above 150 games, before leaving. My last DotA game before the few I played today was in, roughly, 2012, or so the game claims.
I jumped over to League due to the ease of the game and how much more colorful it was, because I was basically just a highschooler. Fastforwarding now, I've grown weary of Riot's money-grubbing tactics and a new shift in meta will put critical players like me out of commission with how disgustingly offensive the lack of balance is starting to grow out.
Not intending to bash League any further, I'll move on: So I came back to Dota2 and.. Wow..
I'm so bad.
I remember when I was the top of my locale with Windrunner and now I'm lucky to finish a game with less than 5 deaths and a somewhat sustainable lane. Picking up Enchantress seems to yield some better results as, despite my micromanagement having decayed, she's still somewhat safer for me from what I can tell.
So now I ask:
How did you get better at this game? How did you improve general aspects such as basic decision making, getting used to the relative balance, and even things as basic as farming. All concepts I've lost and, sadly, had learned from my peers which I no longer have real communication with and, needless to say from my presence here, I find the DotA base tutorials bare at best.
Well if you played Legue you should be able to grasp the basics of farming and decision making. You'll gte better over time. My advice is: practive makes permanent. I learnt that from a very wise guy who taught me how to fence. If you practice wrong then that's how youre gonna stay. Just get into good habits, even if you arent good at it, or it isnt needed at your level and keep doing that.
Just simply play more games. Also, try watching some streams of pro players or tournament streams. Even until now I still kinda benefit from watching pro players play since I always get some ideas from them.
practice and reading theories as much as possible.
i was a lan player in game spots too and i had left dota as well, when i came back it was 2014 and i realized i really suck at this. that undefeatable player has become a feeder. so i started to play 7 games and read 2 guides a day, when i got 2500 mmr my account was hacked (if i find that fat ****, i will rape him)
so practice and love the hero you play with, the latter is more important.
any way good luck
