Hi all,

I'm a lowly 1.6k MMR player currently, I cant remember what bracket i drafted into, i suspect 2k MMR. I've gone up and down from 1.4k - 2.1k MMR and every single time I climb by frankly, playing the game unhealthily, the teams I seem to get drafted with are just... well... awful.

I've tried everything I can think of to switch things up to try to improve the overall winrate, but every single time the team just lets me down time and time again.

**I'm fully aware most of you are going to consider this "just another kid crying" and if you are that person, I ask you now, please do not even bother posting a response.**

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A good place to start is to not play every game ranked, it's easier to tilt and get into a losing streak. Taking breaks is important.

If you want to win MMR, I generally recommend that you get some of your high winrate heroes and designate them as your "ranked' heroes. I've been raising my MMR slowly, currently at 3.9k because I usually first pick either Abaddon or Lich

Also, this nice little feature new by Dotabuff
http://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/meta
it'll provide some nice stats on who is most likely to win the game at various MMR brackets. In this case, Omni, Spectre, Necro, WK, CM, Dazzle, Centaur. All good heroes.

Play gankers like Legion Commander or Slark who can transition into carries or hard carries like Faceless Void who can gank , jump and kill supports from early onwards. I am stuck in mmr hell and there void works wonders , get Maelstorm , Mask of Madness and Power Treads kill any support who is alone , snowball and then get a few solo rampages.

Thank you for you response,

I'll give the meta page heroes a shot and see how things go on.

I was considering whether I should smurf, i'll admit my last hitting isn't perfect, my map awareness generally isn't too bad and I give everything I can to avoid feeding the enemy team.

Would a smurf be beneficial or not?

You can smurf if you want to recalibrate yourself. I think one of our Mods, Xyrus said that you should calibrate with Zeus if you want best results.

one of my friends have the same problem before we both actually under 2000 mmr and we think about some solutions

solo mmr

i told him to always take mid with any mid laner that can carry drow-husker-sf-windrunner (his best hero is drow ranger so he can carry pretty well) so you gain exp and gold faster and you get fat with ganks and snowball out of control )

party mmr
we decided to always choose the core heros (hard carry-mid lane-hard support)
for example (pa-storm-shadow shaman)
so we don't cry to support to buy ward or courier and we can carry the game even with 2 other feeders

or

if you play with your friends play OP combo

my combos with my friends are (ursa+shadow shaman) and (slarder+lycan)

with the first combo we never lose and ursa get 20-35 kill per game cause of the high disable of shadow shaman

the second combo is all about destroy paper heros and snowball lycan because lycan deal insane amount of damage early-mid and if snowball he can even carry against AM himself

slarder melt the armor armor and lycan melt the heros

good luck with your games

Always assume it's your fault.

It doesn't matter if your Team is feeding, incompetent and genrally useless, always look for ways in which you alone can win the game, because no matter how high you raise your MMR, you will always have to deal with dead weight on your team at least every other game.

Skimming through your last 15 matches on Dotobuff, your problem (when you pick a Core) appears to be that you rely too much on getting a good Early start, but the Heroes you pick tend to be weak before lvl6. Your average GPM in the games you lost was below 400, and your CS was fairly low too. Compared to thes games:-

...you appeared to have quite a bit of Free Farm here, especially the Terrorblade game. If it looks like you may have to fight in Lane early on, focus on dominating your Lane. Heroes like Viper, Bristleback, Razor, etc. can fight back easily and punish the ohter team for staying near the Creep Wave even if your "Support" is doing nothing but Chain-Pulling *facepalm*.

Getting a good advantage early on leads to a strong Mid Game, which leads to Towers going down. From there, all you have to do is outplay the ohter Team, win a teamfight and use the momentum to take one set of Rax. From there, so long as nothing goes horribly wrong, you should be able to win the game.

I'd stay away from Void, he's easily bullied out of Lane early on and doesn't do well if he doesn't get good Farm early on and Snowball afterwards. Both of these things are easily prevented.

Legion Commander / Windranger can be pretty good at low MMRs as Solo Offlaners as most Dual Lanes will push the Creep Wave under your Tower...it can actually be easier to get Last Hits as a Solo Offlaner than a Safe Laner in a Dual Lane at low MMR. Ez Levels, Ez Farm, Ez Snowball, Ez Life. <}3

No, what I meant was, there used to be a flaw in the Calibration process, where your MMR was influenced by how much Damage you did in a game, i.e. Thunder God's Wrath == EZ MMR. This no longer applies as they changed it.
