Morphling has, out of all heroes, currently, the 7th worst winrate out of all heroes and is the 17th least popular. After having recently picked him up and trying really hard to make him work, I've found that any hero with burst, a silence, or hard disable, especially a hex, counters him rather hard. This is a very substantial amount of hard counters, it's actually impossible to ban out all the hard counters in captains mode. This puts you in a difficult spot. It ensures that he will be picked only as the very last pick or not at all, and he also doesn't fit in the current meta. Fit that in with the fact that he kept getting nerfed, and all the sudden he isn't picked at all. During all of 6.84 pro games so far, he was picked only 14 times.
Personally, I like the current meta. Although at times frustrating in pubs, the pros are really fun to watch. There's always constant action. Games last about 30-35 minutes. Morph doesn't like that. He really only comes online at the 45 minute mark, once you ave 2-3 big items. If you pour all your resources into a carry, to have them do basically nothing, you lose.
There are things you can do to try and fix that. You can have a techies, for example. That could drag out the game. You could buy a Midas. Still though, you're useless until you come online.
Once you come online though, Morphling is not a weak hero. Skadi/Linken's + Manta + EBlade lets you kill basically everyone, and even a 4-slotted PA has trouble against you, because you can just shotgun her down. But, oh wait. She can outplay you by blinking to something as the projectiles are in the air. Or, she could BKB. Even lategame morph, although fearsome, could use a slight buff. There should be a bigger reward for getting there, and it should also be a bit easier to get there too. That is how you make him viable.
In my poll I have a whole bunch of buffs that you could give morph, I'd like to see other people's opinions.
I would say he's already viable. In this game, for example, I was up against quite a few hard disables. Granted, no hexes or stuns, but I could see the opponent's lineup quite easily being a lineuo that is actually drafted. The amount of heroes that possess a silence or stun are relatively few, and you would not need to ban all of them. Once you know based on bans and first and second picks what the opponent is trying to draft, you can just ban the ones that would fit into their lineup, then draft morph 4th or 5th pick.
Because of the his range I cannot farm and end up being a support. I am just morphing STR and permastunning.
IMO, attack range buff will be great as this way farming with him will be way easier early.
