6.84 has long been revealed as a patch that aids casters and rewards early game action. This is a patch where PAs are laughed on and Leshracs are feared upon. That being said, where does Lina's role come in the current meta? Does she burst down cores early game to shut them down? Or does she create space by easily mowing down creep waves with her relatively spammable nukes? Both roles seem easily achieved in this era, so where does her speciality come into place in the current meta? Or do I simply have a wrong understanding on the current state of Dota? Please enlighten me, people of Dotafire.
Why cant she do both?? I mean he has really spammable nukes with high damage, use it to make space for your team by clearing waves and killing heroes (but remember always give some of your last hits and kills to the carries, only take the kill when there is no one that has higher priority around you to take it / or its running away and the carry can't kill it)

Then what role does she fill in a team? Can she take pos 2-3 as some kind of space clearer+initiator \ counter-intiatior or is she a support that should set up kills and push? What I want to know is how she should be played.
She's just really versatile. Like, in the competitive scene, the ability to open drafts with heroes and not reveal a lot about your strategy is invaluable. Thus why things like QoP and Lina are high priority picks, because they versatile in laning positions, and are really good laners (To the extent they normally win most match-ups they are in).
Like, she's a jack of all trades, having burst damage that lasts all game (Since 1k of pure damage is scary at all stages), lots of ganking potential from early to mid game, a good damage steroid allowing her to transition into a semi-carry, and a decent pusher because of her wave clear and steroid.
She's best picked up in dual core line-ups, where the primary damage dealer isn't her. She's better as a core nowadays; you can run her as a greedy support Aui_2000 style, but you need a lot of space to do that. Which is bad for a support. (Like she wants Eul's and Ag's as a support, which is a lot).
Thank you for all your helpful inputs, i think i'm seeing how she should be used now, as a utility core that easily ascends into a semi-carry. I have a final question, though, regarding semi-carry Lina. After she has her cores and is preparing to move to the lategame, would it better to build even more utility on her (e.g, sheepstick), damage items for fiery soul (e.g, Daedalus), or survivability (e.g, octarine, blood, or satanic.)?
Most commonly, you'll want to transition Eul's + Ag's into Sheepstick Refresher, with room for most likely a BKB in between. Because, you are at that stage a utility hero, who starts fights by combo'ing someone down with 2k + burst damage to start with, and controlling with double Hex.
But some games either you will be so snowballed, or your need for damage will be high enough that you'll build into something like MKB (You only need 1 damage item because of your attack speed, so if you want o keep transitioning as a right click core you'd build tanky like Satanic or Skadi.)
It's not a flat rule, it's just usually when you hve a right clicking core to compliment your Lina, you benefit more from the control than building damage. As is always the case with item builds, use your discretion.
also dont forget blink dagger or even shadow blade/silver edge, it can both be really strong if you are snowballing. (which is the only reason to pick core lina, terrorise the map and ride the wave =D)
