So, with TI5 looming ahead I thought it might be fun to have a Dotafire tipping game. If you don't know the concept, it works thusly: You predict the outcome of matches for a given event (e.g. a Premier League season, NHL playoffs, or, in our case, a Dota tournament) and get points for correct predictions. Whoever accumulates the most points wins a banana (or another prize, if you for some reason don't like fruit).
I thought of having a little trial run during the upcoming Summit 3. If enough people are interested, I would create a Google Sheet for us to use (I haven't found a good software/site for doing this, at least not for free - suggestions welcome. Fair warning: I am not a real programmer, so the result will probably look like **** and give dry heaves to anyone who actually knows how to code). I don't have any prizes to give out, so this would be just for the fun of it.
Would anyone want in on this?
GAME RULES
Scoring
1. Points will be awarded as follows:
- Predicting the winner and the correct score of a Match: 2 Points (5 Points for the Grand Final)
- Predicting the winner, but not the correct score of a Match: 1 Point (2 Points for the Grand Final)
- Predicting the most picked Hero of the tournament: 5 Points
- Predicting the most banned Hero of the tournament: 5 Points
- Predicting the final ranking: 1 Point per correctly ranked Team, extra 10 Points if every Team correctly ranked
- Predicting the winner of the tournament: 5 Points
2. The player with the most points wins. Tiebreakers (in order):
- Number of correct score predictions
- Number of correct winner predictions
- Number of correctly ranked Teams
- Whoever predicted the winner of the tournament
- Number of correctly predicted Heroes
- Coin flip by me
Making predictions
1. Predictions must be made via the Google Sheet created by me. Every player will have editing rights for his own sheet.
2. Match Predictions must be made until 15 minutes before the scheduled Match time. Editing rights for this Match will be removed at that point.
3. The predictions for ranking, tournament winner, most picked Hero and most banned Hero must be made until 15 minutes before the first Game is scheduled to begin (March 13th, 18:15 CET).
4. Everyone is responsible to make their predictions on time. I will not enter predictions retroactively.
Participation
1. To participate, you must create a Google account (or use your existing one) and write me a PM with the mail address by the end of the first tournament day (March 13th, 23:59 CET). [Edit: Considering that we only have 3 participants atm, I'm ignoring this rule for now.]
2. I will not participate myself. [Edit: Changed my mind on this, so we have a bigger pool of players for testing. Should we distribute prizes, I won't take any.]
