TI5 Qualifier Open

So when I looking at the teams in the qualifiers, I noticed that there was an open slot in each qualifier left for the winner of an "open." I'm curious as to see how many teams get in seeing as valve markets it as "a chance for YOU to make TI5." Perhaps some teams will looking to reclaim lost glory or upstarts looking to make their fame? Or maybe assemble the Dotafire All-Stars....kappa?

I mean, if we'd considered preparing for this months ago, you probably could make an aight DOTAfire allstar team. Not really competitive worthy, but still :P

It's a lovely idea, and will probably have more impact next year, because you'll get people who go 'Hey let's have a go, and practice for the next years go'.

Short of any suprises however, I can't see any teams from this open bit winning the regional qualifiers. Especially not in Europe or China. Probably not in SEA either.

I think personally it's more of a publicity stunt on Valve's part. No doubt there will be plenty of publords that will want to take stab at it, and get flattened. Though we might see some actual teams (like Moscow 5, Ehug, Balkan Bears, etc.) in the open, should be entertaining.

oh and the open is going be a 1024-team bracket.

Yeah, the open qualifier will be most important for the tier 2 EU teams that didn't get qualifier invites as it is. Because well... there are a loooot of them. It's TI. Any team that can have a crack will have a crack, because it's the most prestigious and most rewarding tournie in DOTA.

But I wonder, who would be the five members of the DOTAfire All-Stars?
