So, I've been tweaking my idea which looking at it was a bit "strict" when I thought it wasn't as bad as what I originally planned (originally, I had intended both heroes that were picked AND banned to be blacklisted). So I've come up a more "watered down" version, something that will make drafts more interesting without completely screwing over a team's draft.
So for an example here's a game 1 draft in a two game series between Xyrus' Team of Manly Mustaches vs The Fedora Squad being done in Fedorable's Mode Version 2:
Now for the black list element. Instead of just having the heroes that were being outright blacklisted; the two teams will CHOOSE three heroes to black list, which will include two heroes that were picked by the opposing team and one hero that was banned by the opposing team. This way, the blacklisting is something isn't out of the teams' control and will still have to take into account when planning their drafts.
So in this case, the blacklisted heroes for game 2 would be:
The Fedora Squad's Blacklist:
Pick- Troll Warlord
Pick- Rubick
Ban- Batrider
So these 6 heroes are out of game two's selection pool, as opposed to the 10 that would've been blocked out in the first version.
So, is this any better than the first version of my idea? Or did I just make matters worse?
But, on a more serious note, it might make more sense to blacklist your own ban rather than an opponents bans, and I've decided for best of 3 series that the blacklist is only in effect for one game.
So if the Fedora Squad and Xyrus' Team of Manly Mustaches were to be playing in a Bo3 rather than a two game series, then the blacklisted heroes in Game 2 would be available for Game 3 (Since those heroes were out of game 2's selection pool, they cannot be blacklisted in back to back games), so in this case, heroes like Rubick and Shadow Fiend can be picked and banned again in game 3, having been replaced with a blacklist of heroes picked and banned in game 2.
