We had pondered returning to Alice, who had designed my engagement ring, and asking her if she might make us unique wedding bands to match my engagement ring. As I tried on the rings in the jewellers, it became clear to me that I wanted the uniqueness of my engagement ring to also be in our wedding bands, for consistency, and for us to have matching rings that were distinct and special to us. The rings in the jewellers were excellent, but they were mostly machine-made and a little lifeless. They just didn't feel like the right rings for us.
