Wrecking with timbersaw

The early game

In the early game, it is ideal to solo the offlane. First of all, you will level up quicker and also gives you more opportunity to kill people pretty quickly from the get go. Like all other heroes, timbersaw has a snowball effect which will make him a threat to almost all heroes. You should always take timber chain at level 1. It gives you damage and an escape mechanism. Reactive armor should not be taken because stout shield negates a lot of attacks done. Unless you are up against two heavy damage dealers and spell casters, it is not necessary to level reactive armor.

A fine tip for playing timbersaw, don't be afraid. Timbersaw's spells are of great damage especially in the early stages of the game. If the enemy heroes are strong enough to kill you, just farm as usual until an opportunity arises. If the enemy seems to be not farming and playing very pasively, high chances are that the player is either new or doesnt farm. Regardless, it means you can buy a boot first which is very beneficial as timbersaw is a very mobile hero. Another good tip is to always carry a tp scroll especially when reaching level 3.

Mid game

By this time, you should be at least level 6. You're doing great and so are your teammates. You have scored 5 kills without dying. What now? Depending on the matchup you can do different things. If there are inferior lanes at the other lanes, try and gank the lane and return back to your own lane immediately. What most timbersaw players do is they gank around and forgot to farm. If the ganks do not pan out, they get frustrated and make unnecessary dives. This will give the enemy an opportunity to farm up gold and level. As a timbersaw, bloodstone is essentially the most important item in the game and the sooner you get it, the higher the chances of winning the game. Again ALWAYS CARRY A TP SCROLL. You never know when your teammates need you. Map awareness is something that you have to be good at. To acknowledge the presence of enemy heroes on the map will give you a slight advantage as you can be sure of enemy heroes backing up.

If the game is going badly, just farm up items and turtle. A blade mail would be a decent pickup. Defend towers when necessary and try to push the lanes. This will buy time for your team carries to farm up their core items. Sometimes no matter how good your game is, the carries on your team cant do as good due to inferior heroes. Gank those lanes and help out your carry hero. Sometimes it is inevitable as their heroes are too strong. Therefore, before picking timbersaw, first look at the draft then make the decision.

Late game

By this time it is 40-50 minutes into the game. It is probably due to the enemy having good anti push or your team is reluctant to push and vice versa. Nevertheless it is the late game and you will all need big items. There are many ways to go about this. If you are far behind and is losing the game, try to turtle and get more farm. Timbersaw has a huge combo that can clear creeps in less than a second. This will provide gold to buy the necessary items. Items that should be bough in this case are heart of tarasque and black king bar. HOT gives you health regen to go back into a fight whilst BKB gives you magic immunity in a battle. You should be able to decide based on the enemy draft.

If the game is fairly balaned, it is recommended that you get a Scythe Of Vyse and a Boots Of Travel. What BoT does is that it gives you more opportunity for you to not only gank and countergank but also to farm and push the lane. If that is the scenario, pushing the lane will be the most ideal way to go. It forces enemy heroes to play into your hands instead of the other way around. It also boosts timbersaw's mobility which in this case is already very high.
Hex gives you many opportunities to disable any one hero from the enemy team. It will be beneficial as the highest impact hero in the game can be brought down easily. It also gives you good stats. A shivas guard will be good to slow down the attackers move and attack speed. It gives you more survivability as well.

If the game is going well as planned, a heart would be recommended and a dagon. The dagon is for you to bring the enemy down easily without a chance to retaliate. This results in towers being brought down and winning the game.
