Some handy Hints

Play Pudge mid...

If you get Last hits then that's great, if not don't stress. You go mid as pudge for the levels, and for your amazing ability to get kills all on your own :D
Basically around 5, or at lvl 6 you should be able to combo a kill.
Hook - Rot - Dismember

Just be patient don't die, then when the time comes get the hook. As soon as you get about 2 hook kills in the mid lane its your's provided you haven't died already.

Then once they start expecting and dodging the hooks then head to the other lanes and get a hook from the fog provided its not warded... and even then haha

The truth is, the skill component in Pudge which will make or break your games, will be your ability to land the hooks - which comes purely through practice, and watching some pro games with Dendi :D

Items

I'm not to concerned about starting items, if you gonna go branches into magic stick then go for it, I just dont rate it.

Early
Basically rush a bottle then boots.
This will allow you to obviously heal and keep up mana to launch the hooks.

Building a Core
Then you wanna go for the urn which can help you heal up after you've had rot on for a while, plus it adds good team utility and is nice for finishing those heroes that would otherwise get away.

Then go for phase boots, arcane's can be useful but if you use the bottle well and use hooks wisely then you should have enough mana. Treads, well the 25% attack speed is somewhat wasted on pudge given you dont right click to much plus phase boots give you more. The speed boost for chasing is just priceless in rot which is most of your damage.

After this you can go for either a hood or shadow blade. Hood will help your tankieness more and if there alot of nukes then its probably the better option. The blade however offers u better positioning for kills, a good chase with the rot (because of the movement speed increase) and can help escape. You can definitely go for both its just which you want first

Late Game
Now get your scepter so you can start dealing some good damage (the heal is also nice). Then I usually follow up with a heart so it scales even more.
Shiva's is nice after this to increase your overall survivability as armour will do better than the extra hp.

That's about all I will say, the key is to remember your goal is to get kills as pudge not farm.
And because it's so common...

Force Staff: Shadow Blade does more for me, mainly because I dont use the staff well enough for good team utility and the escape on blade is better plus the stealth rot combo is wicked.

Conclusion

Pudge is all about landing the hooks, the pure damage is great and if u land a good one its pretty much a garunteed kill. Skill comes with practice and always play midlane.

The more kills the merrier due to flesh heap, that str gain really pays off.
Speaking of which never go pudge if your up against a naix or necro, they will kick yo $%#

Btw if anyone manages to land the Hook Chen return combo,m, then you sir are a legend.
I've only seen Dendi and Puppey pull it off, so good luck :D

Comments?

Feel free to criticize or suggest anything, it's my first guide and not particularly extensive.
But most of your skill in dota comes from practice not reading. Besides most of the useful information that will help you is in the item and skill builds.
