This is my first build on Dota 2, and I hope you will enjoy it! I decided to start a Nature's Prophet build because many people think this hero is useless, but he is not.
(image taken from Dota2 wiki: http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Nature%27s_Prophet)
Nature's Prophet has one of the most underrated skill set i've seen. Why? Because he has no real damage spell, except of his ultimate.
But this doesn't mean he is a bad hero, nor he cannot do real damage to his enemies.
His Teleportation skill is very often forgot, even though it IS one of the most powerfull skills in Dota 2, and it isn't even its ultimate! Think about it: You can easily teleport everywhere you want on the map, and it has a ridiculous cooldown! Think of the ganking/escaping opportunities!
This being said, let's get to the items. Good items are very important for the Prophet, because they give him the only source of damage. Because you can't kill fast, Prophet needs to slow down his enemies, so they cannot escape. This is where the Eye of Skadi comes.
However, you cannot lose time hunting for enemy heroes, so you need a really good damage.
Also, Aghaim's Scepter imroves both your Ultimate, mana and intellect, which is transformed into damage.
Items like Daedalus will let you kill fast, because of the critical damage.
Depending on the situation, you can look forward buying Shiva's guard, for its armor.
Orchid Maleviolence is your perfect weapon for you if fighting enemies with huge health or enemy heroes who can easily become invisible (Riki, Bounty Hounter).
The only way to start if you are nature's prophet is with your sprout. If you master this skill, you can get a kill at level 2-3. After, put one point in teleportation, because it is your way in/out of battle, your supreme ganking mechanism. Unlike gankers like riki, who can be seen if using wards, you cannot be seen/expected. You just come from nowhere, right behind your enemy, preparing a great ambush.
Continue using points in Sprout, because you need to stuck your enemy for as long as possible. Only if you can't put anymore in Sprout put into teleport.
At level 6, put one point in your only damage skill, your ultimate. Finish putting points in Sprout, and start increasing your teleport's level. After it reaches maximum, put points in Stats, until you can put no more.
Only after all these, finish your skill set with your Nature's Call, the worst spell in your build.
Why is Nature's call bad? Well, because it is completely USELESS in your build. You can only use it if there are trees nearby, so you can't use it in your/enemy base! Also, you now can stuck your enemy and slow him. 5 Treants with the damage of a creep won't help you at all, but only slow you, because you need to cast the spell, so you loose time. Of course, when you got to the point where you can only improve this spell, improve it. I suggest using your Nature's call only if you are laning or you want to destroy an enemy tower. If this is the case, use your treants as living wards, so you can see if you are about to be ganked. You could try using this skill at the beggining, when laning, because it will give you a better chance of getting last-hits on minions, at the cost of the teleportation cooldown. However, you don't need this skill, belive me.
In the other way, putting points in your stats is very good for you. It will give you damage, mana, STR and AGI, making you more dangerous and durable.
Your ultimate is not very usefull, but you can use it in case of team-fights or if you gank an enemy, he escapes, you try catching him with your teleportation and (God knows how) he is
still running away.
So, you have Ring of Basilius and 1 tango. I always go bot or top, because the Prophet cannot really handle a mid situation in the beggining, when he is not fed.
ALWAYS consider taking a ranged hero, or a melee hero who can get past your Sprout skill or who can attack with a spell from range. Rikimaru is a very good hero in combination with the Prophet, because he can easily get in/out of the sprout, and he can simply silence the trapped enemy, making his escape almost impossible. Heroes like Drow Ranger, Viper or Sniper will fit perfectly. Also, the centaur warrunner is a decent hero, because of his stomp.
What to do if: Against two ranged, you are with a melee: Try to harras them, bot don't get too confident. You can easily be killed. Always get the last hit on minions, because you need items. Help your companion if in trouble, because your enemies will most likely try killing him first.
If you are with a hero like rikimaru, use sprout to stuck your enemy, so Riki can teleport to him and get a fast kill.
Against 2 ranged, you with 1 ranged: Depending on your companion, try to harras them if you can, but get last hit on minions. If you are with a stunner, like sniper, try taking a fast kill.
Against 2 melee, no matter who you are with: Try focusing on one enemy(usually the lowest health base one), and start harrasing him. If you do it well, you could get a fast kill.
Against 1 melee and 1 ranged: Focus on the melee, harras him, kill him. Easy.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE MAP! IF YOU SEE ALIIES IN TROUBLE/IN NEED OF GANKING USE TELEPORT AND GANK. THIS IS THE WAY OF HAVING AT LEVEL 6 ABOUT 4 KILLS.
You are level 6 and you have your ultimate and boots. Now it's the time for you to shine, or loose patheticly. You will make the difference between winning or loosing, because you can be fed or feed your enemy.
If you played well, you have at least 2-3 kills(maybe 4) and you already started building your Eye of Skadi. Focus on killing your enemies. Your best skill here is Teleportation, use it in order to kill a running enemy, but be careful where you teleport.
Sprout the enemy, attack him, and use your ultimate only if necessary. Try using it when you are in the lane, and use it so it will first hit the minions, and after the heroes, because your ultimate's damage rises with every enemy hit. Don't forget that your ultimate won't affect heroes out of your team's line-of-sight.
However, always run if you are in a 2 on 1 situation, because you cannot kill your enemy fast enough to escape, unlessy one of your enemies has lost a significant amount of hp.
If you didn't play well, try taking a defensive stance. Last hit minions, and attack enemy heroes only in team-fights. Remember: If you play with this hero, you can be two things:
The star, or the noob of your team. Don't forget: Using sprout on yourself and after teleportation can get you out of a difficult situation, but beware of the enemy who is attacking you: If you get stunned, you're dead.
If all goes good, in late-mid-game you will already start building you Aghanim's scepter, and it's your time to shine.
When you have your scepter, you are almost unstoppable. Your ultimate is improved, you have a large mana cap and a verry good health cap. From now on you can focus on winning the game.
The only thing left for you to do is to buy Daedalus. This item gives you a huge damage bonus, and a great critical chance and damage, which you will need if facing powerful enemies.
You now have only a 20-second cooldown on teleportation, so use its full potential. You can easily get out of battle if severely damaged, you can easily get INTO battle, by ambushing your enemies. Cool, isn't it?
Keep hunting your enemies weakest hero, and help your team if in need.
If you master your great skills, there is no way for you to loose.
So, nature's prophet is one of the most underrated heroes. But this can have a good part: If you play with him, the enemies may consider you not so dangerous, but they will have a shock when they will see you own the game for your team.
This being said, let's get to the PROS/CONS:
PROS
It's underrated, which may give you an advantage.
It can easily gat in/out of battle.
It can easily prevent your enemies from escaping.
It can teleport all around the map.
He has the potential of being the hero of the match.
It makes the escape almost impossible for your enemies.
If you use your ULTI well, you can get a great damage, using the mobs.
Fun to play with
CONS
It can hard killing the enemies at the beggining
A bit hard to master
Very item-dependent
You have one very useless spell
You may be your enemies primary target
If you don't use your teleport well, you can easily become the prey, instead of being the killer.
So this is a list of important tips when using this hero:
1. Always harras at the beggining and try getting kills, but don't get too overconident.
2. Support your team by ganking, using teleportation.
3. Don't die. You can't afford loosing money.
4. Just because your enemy is retreating to its base, it doesn't mean he escaped. Just teleport in its way and sprout him. I guarrantee a kill.
5. If you aren't followed by a stunner and you are in danger and alone, sprout yourself and use the teleportation. Sprout's duration will last longer than channeling teleportation.
6. Hunt the lowest healh-based enemy. You need to be fed.
7. Put points in your stats for damage/HP!
8. In the beggining, always get last hits on mobs, because you will need the money. Later, enemy heroes will become your money source.
9.Also, sprout can be used when running, if you use it in a tight space(ex: Woods). It will block your enemy's way, giving you an escape chance.
10. If you are about to teleport to a place, you started channeling the spell but you think it's too risky, you can cancel the teleportation!
11. Always, BUT ALWAYS, you must NEVER forget: HAVE FUN WHEN PLAYING THIS HERO.
This being said, I release this guide :) Have fun!
