Chapter Title
Slardar is a mid-damage, diabling hero whose main job is to initiate. Slardar's "Slithereen Crush" and "Amplify Damage" allow him do be an effective initiator who is the first to jump headlong into teamfights. Slardar's main goal is to make the other team weaker or easier to target before his teammates jump in. His passive "Bash" is also very good for not only initiation, but also to help his team chase down opponents. The mini-stum help him disable an opponent, allowing his teammates to catch up and eliminate the enemy. Slardar's Ultimate Ablility, "Amplify Damage", and its low cooldown make it not only a necessity for teamfights but also a very good tool for farming ancient camps or taking down Roshan. The Starting Items allow Slardar to stay in lane, even when being harassed. They also provide block, making him more durable. His early game items allow him do get bonus armor and regen, along with movement speed and some damage. He should also get a Magic Wand. This allows him to gain some health and mana in a pinch, and can turn the tide of early fights. These items are also necessary to build later items. For mid game items, Slardar's first priority should be getting an Armlet of Mordiggian. This makes it easier for him to farm and adds to his durability. Secondly, he should purchase a Blink Dagger. This item makes him more teamfight-centered and makes him more helpful to the team. After Blink, Slardar should finish his Power Treads just before getting a Desolator. Deso is a very good item, as it allows him to take even more armor from his opponents. For late game, Slardar should buy a Assault Cuirass, making him an even more teamfight-centered player, and a Blademail so he can jump into fights fearlessly. His final item should be a Heart of Tarrasque, making him even more durable and giving him impressive regen. Some items you should absolutely NEVER GET ON SLARDAR are Refresher Orb, Veil of Discord, or Ags Scepter. These items are pointless on a hero with low ulti cooldown, no magic damage, and no need for an ags. Obviously, the situational items should be purchased depending on the game, but for a well farmed Slardar, Boots of Travel are always an option.
