Right Now OD Needs a Justified Buff...... If Not sooner or later it will be outphased by newer heroes that are coming like ember, phoenix and a lot more..
problem with going astral mode.. is that if you go mid.. your chances of ganking is 0 (zero)
since u dont have any dps build up for that,
secondly your opponent will probably gank since lanning with u is inconvenient then it will make other lanes harder since you only have astral meaning u teleporting on other lanes to help on gank will do no good or just be waste of time.....
what OD needs is a good team that will carry OD throughout the game, until OD can secure items..
as much as possible be invisible throughout the game... which is so hard to do especially when they have invi heroes aka (nerub, bh, clinks, slark)
Last of all.. OD's Ult needs a BUFF..... it barely damages most heroes nowadays because of these updates on maps, they also tweak most of the heroes.. leaving OD in a bad spot for his ULT..
I understand a lot of players will say OD is OP when late.. but normally OD is being carried by his team so that he can get items, not necessarily OD is carrying the game...
If u want to learn OD.. you need to learn to die alot ( LIKE ALOT ALOT) and you will realize that OD is weak right now and needs a buff....
Im a devoted OD player and right now it has become really hard to play OD in high level (20+) in DOTA2....
because of items and buffs that has been added on certains players.
but just keep hoping the will finally BUFF the OD sooner or Later.
I usually rush an scepter (easier to farm than Scyth of Vyse (sheep stick), because you can purchase it is smaller pieces). Which is just unholy with OD. My build 97% goes like this:
Also before you through down your ulti it is a wise choice to switch your treads to int, just for that small extra damage. Then switch them back to strength. I have seen people get a blink with OD, which is a double sword affect, one side helps with chasing down those blink heros, the other side is that you should be the one on the side lines until all 5 are in your ulties aoe (or if you have a great magnus). If you are facing a right click wonder like drow, ghost scepter is also a great choice.
This guide looks good needs some extra content, like allies and foes (only counters). 2 of the best allies with OD is Dark seer and Magnus.
Personally I'd say maybe go for Aghanim's if your early game isn't going too well and you want to build up some Int and Str up, because the damage you do with even just a Mystic Staff still out-does the buffed ulti. Aghanim's isn't a great pickup in my opinion unless you're up against a squishy line-up with low Int stats. However, if you were finding it difficult to get early farm, I'd go for an Orchid instead of Sheep, just because the Oblivion Staffs are relatively cheap and give you decent Int.
As for the friends and foes section, that's a good idea and I'll be sure to write it up, Magnus, Dark Seer and Enigma are great for OD.

I would love if this guide has some color. But it is good nonetheless. I really like an orchid on OD. The attack speed is something that you don't get from the force staff anymore and he really lacks that attack speed. I think force staff is very situational and so is bottle. If your lanes are winning without you ganking them then why bother with a bottle. If you are truly needing to use force staff offensively then you need to work on positioning. It's very similar to the old drow when people rushed lothar's on her. Before it did not give attacks speed, and was purely an escape. I think if you can just position yourself properly things are taken care of. but +1
OD is a hero that lacks mobility asa carry,so I would say that force staff is mandatory.Needs some color and a mid lane build, the rest is good.
