Silencer is a great hero all-strong. Strong early damage, late game scaling with a team fight cast that can really add confusion. It is especially strong when a team initiates and follows in on the initiation only to be silenced immediately. With enough lockdown, it can easily turn a fight around.
Paired in a lane with a stun or a slow can lead to many early kills which will scale the hero very late.
The main aim when playing Silencer is to sit around the edges of a team fight allowing your standard hard carries to take the damage while you deal large amounts from the edge.
If in a lane with a low mana pool hero that usually relies on an escape to get away (Void/Mirana), I will usually level Curse a little earlier.
However, Last Word is the king of kills and can cause a lot of high damage early.
Beyond the initial silence level, it only adds 1 second per level so I usually feel that the additional damage can outweigh that second. Its dependant on how the team is doing and if we need the extra team fight ability, I will level Silence earlier.
I dont try to go full Glass Cannon build as Silencer is incredibly high damage hero with only just Orchids.
Sange and Yasha provides extra movement and health which is vital to Silencer as his positioning is critical to surviving team fights and continuing to cause damage. The attack speed is really nice too.
Mjollener because increasing his attack speed is the best way to up his DPS. I will usually try and get the Hyperstone first because this will allow you to attack a lot quicker and not initially sacrifice the attack bonus of your Glaive for the Lightning.
Deadulus is a great item because of the high base damage of Silencer. With every stolen intelligence, Silencer becomes more powerful and Daedulus can really enhance that effect late. If they have an evasion hero on their team, I would swap this to a Monkey King Bar for more effective damage.
Shivas to increase your overall team fight effectiveness.
Pros
Playing against a Silencer is rough work. He can control a game early and still scales extremely well into late game. His global silence can be a complete game changer and can really hurt teams that dont take the time to make sure they lock you down.
