I think that vanguard is better than BKB. Pudge relies on positioning both of himself and the enemy team. He's most effective in isolation scenarios, in which case, he wouldn't need a BKB. Pudge isn't a great teamfighter, and in most fights there will be other higher-priority targets. Pudge doesn't really need a BKB to be effective and I would only get it in a very rare situation.

It's Possible to Use vanguard on pudge rather than BKB then upgrade it to Crimson guard for more tankiness along with flesh heap you can soak up so much damage and spells and still survive.I fought a pudge so tanky he took all of our skills combined but i don't know if he used vanguard. But if you want to be tanky yeah vanguard
>Crimson guard could work

awesome guide, helped me a lot with getting the hang of pudge :D
i noticed something, that u should probably take a look at, its just a small typo

From lvl 1-3
Chose if you want to go Mid or on a duo lane.
On a Duolane you can try to go for first blood with Stun + Rot but dont do it if you dont feel SAVE
getting it. Its maybe just a waste of time.
Farm and level up till you are lvl 3. Stay at your lane and let the enemys push near your turret. Stay in a good hook position to hock them into the tower so your partner can stun(if he has a stun) them under towerrange. Turn your Rot on after hooking so he gets slowed too. This will result in an easy kill.

GGplay, I would like to thank you for this amazing guide. When I first heard of Pudge (months before my friends finally got me to play Dota 2), I knew that I would love him. Your guide was the first of many guides I read about him, and this is easily the best. Pudge is my second best character, right after Slark, and I would like to thank you for the tips, visual aids, videos, and build. +1

instead of getting two gloves, i replace them with a chicken and wards because you don't really have to go through the effort of taking off the gloves and then use pot, and the supports can get other items which help them harass the enemy. A ward position i use is just the tip of the hill section near the river because you can see enemy movements more easily and it isn't detected within the enemy tower range.

btw Clockwerk is like the ultra hard counter to you, he can ez kill you if he uses Battery Assault and Power Cogs. Rotting will just accelerate your death process. Battery Assault also stuffs up your ult if he used it prior your hook. Rocket Flare reveals your potential hiding spots. If he gets Hood of Defiance, you are gonna have a hard time...

Magnus is also a chunk of meat who is hard to kill when he is mid. Skewers to safety if scared and has better rune control since he is faster.

I think you also forgot to mention Omniknight as a frenemy for magic immunity and heal. Either helps you or stuff you up hard.

Shadow Blade or Shadow Amulet aren't too bad for Pudge, just Rot prior using Shadow Blade, get close to enemy, hit them (for extra 100 or so damage), hook them and finish them off will ult.

Eul scepter also isn't such a bad item, gives much needed mana and ms. cyclone can also help in chases, instead of potentially missing hooks, and therefore mana.

Overall this guide is fantastic

1+ from me

Can you give me a flesh heap rating? for example: if you have lvl 10 flesh heap at 20:00, it is average)-
