Introduction

This is NOT a supporting build and you will probably be complained at for using this if you're the only support. Crystal Maiden has so many good abilities with low cool downs that it is easy to do a lot of burst damage. When her abilities are paired with an Octarine core and a Dagon she turns from cute to deadly.

Skills

Frostbite should be maxed out ASAP. It does a lot of damage over a short period of time and provides a lock down that your lane partner can use to get some damage in as well.

Arcane Aura is next on the list because CM does not have a good mana pool and her spells are pretty expensive.

Freezing Field should be taken on levels 6, 11, and 16 since it does a lot of damage and can turn the tide on a team fight.

Crystal Nova is a good ability but not as good as Frostbite and should be leveled last since it only provides a slow, not a lock down.

Items

Starting Items

1 Ward to prevent ganks in your lane.
Mana regen is important for early game kills, since CM has a trash mana pool and her spells are rather expensive, the Clarity and Mango will help you kill in the lane with Frostbite.

Early Game Items

Tranquil Boots allow you to stay in lane when dealing with annoying spammers like PA daggers or Clockwork rockets.
Glimmer cape is an amazing item to combine with your ultimate. It allows you to get half of the ultimate off before being able to be targeted by enemies. It also is useful for escaping since CM is slow even with Tranquil boots and allows you to let your Blink Dagger come off cool down when being chased.

Core Items

Blink Dagger is a must. You need it to position yourself for your ultimate as well as secure lock down on fleeing enemies.
Aghanim's increases the damage on your ultimate and slows enemies by 30% more, forcing them to be inside it a little longer.
Dagon, 800 burst, nuff said.
Octarine Core really makes CM good at nuking enemies down. It lowers the cool down on your abilities by 25%. The cool down on Frostbite goes from 6 seconds to 4.5 seconds and lasts for 3 seconds. You can keep someone locked down with only a 1.5 second chance for them to get away. And with the cool down on Crystal Nova being only 6.75 seconds, with an Ocore, and having a 50% slow they can not escape you. Blink Dagger also drops to a 9 second CD and Dagon goes down to 11.25 seconds. If properly rotated you can keep someone slowed and rooted long enough to blow them up.

Your Choice Items

Any of these are acceptable options. If there are large amounts of team fights going on, Shiva's Gaurd and Veil of Discord pair nicely with your ultimate. If you're trying for more of a ganking, nuke build an Ethereal Blade is best for the slow and amplified magic damage taken when coupled with a Dagon.

Situational Items

If there are any ground targeted disables like Nyx's Impale or Invoker's Tornado, your ultimate will be interrupted constantly so picking up a Black King Bar is a good idea.
Linken's is good if enemies have a lot of burst target abilities or disables.
Ghost Scepter will help against all right click teams.
Scythe for enemies like Storm Spirit, Anti Mage, or Queen of Pain to prevent blinks.

Support, if you really want to.

If you really feel that you need to support any of the aura giving items are a good choice.
Alternatively, if your initiator or carry is getting blown up a Lotus Orb will help deter enemies from casting spells at the target while it is applied.
Since you're so squishy a Necronomicon leveled up to 3 is a good way to catch sneaky heroes like Riki, Bounty Hunter, or Nyx.

Guess you didn't know a little game of freeze tag could turn lethal.
