At level 18 for instance, with blade mail alone Ogre magi has 47% physical reduction (15.1 armor)

With shivas he has 60% physical reduction(25.1 armor). It's not a huge difference for the **** ton of gold you have to spend, not to mention 80% of the time your team team will have mek, vlads, RoA, RoB or some kind of passive armor buff

You still have a fundamental misunderstanding of how armour works. Every 1 point in armour (or 7 points in AGI) gives 6% EHP (effective hit points). That means that a plate mail gives 60% EHP, so matter how many or how few armour points you already have.

Therefore, if your hero has 1000hp, buying a chainmail (550g, 5 armour) will give 1300 EHP and is more effective than buying a vitality booster (1100g, 250hp).

Obviously there are other calculations to consider like the amount of magic damage, the amount of armour reduction, etc.

You ought to know that DPS Carries would love to have that Black King Bar once they see that Blade Mail.

Shiva not helping much? Well IDK brah, guess you just prefer to stick with the 30% EHP increase when they're dealing ~300-400 DPS rather than having 90%.

True words Sarracenia. The lack of shivas in any of my builds is due to me finding the item lacking effectiveness for its price, maybe if they buffed shivas to -40 atk speed or buffed the ring damage I'd buy it more, but for now it's too pricey for what it does and it's hard to find a hero equip it on and have full use out of it, when blade mail does about the same and rewards greater damage.


Dirge Tidehunter Outworld Destroyer Tinker Krob Lich Zeus Jakiro are about the only heroes I fit it on, and even then it's like a 5/6th tier item.

If they're doing that much DPS, then they'll likely kill themselves on BM.
And again, if they're doing that much, Shiva's won't help much.

Try that against someone that can deal ~300-400 DPS.

Nah I mean if I got 40% physical reduction that's good enough for me.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of armour.

Blade mail is my armor slot, plus ogre has insane base armor. Don't want to stack too much armor due to the drop of off % reduction.

Shiva's Guard?

It's luxury, but ghost scepter is nice build up. Ethereal blade is like a casters halberd. Negate any hero carry for 4 seconds, or blow up caster/supports.
