Hello guys! This is the first time I made a guide. This guide is about Razor the Lightning Revenant - my favourite, the first hero I played since DoTA (1). He is kind of a forgotten hero: No one seems to play him anymore, and people seem to get the wrong idea about this hero (at least that's what I think). Recently, I've read an article about how a hero's moving speed affect the win rate. Then Razor immediately pop up in my mind. I started to play him again, but when I look at the in-game "suggested items" (6.83 patch), I was like: No no no no heck NOOOO!!! This is not how you play Razor!!! (Mekannism?? Seriously??) So I decided to write this guide and introduce to you about how I play this hero. I prefer to call this: "Vietnamese Razor" =))
Lets get started!
+PROS:
-Suitable for folks who love speed chasing, aggressive play.
-Amazing sustainability, survive tons of damage but still deal tons of damage.
-Awesome speed, good ganker.
-I fear NO ONE (That's right guys, NO ONE, including Sven). Of course with full items.
-Counter many carriers (You can even turn Faceless Void into Useless Void, Phantom Assassin into Puny Assassin, turn Troll into a joke, Life Stealer into Life Feeder, Bloodseeker into B**bs-S*cker)...
-BKB is useless against Razor.
-A game changer indeed.
+Plasma Field (Q):
Most of the time you're going to play in the middle lane, and you're going to encounter mages or agility heroes. So max Plasma Field first in order to harrass and scare your opponent(s) away. It deals a decent amount of damage. This skill's damage is range-base so try to practice and familiarize yourself with the distance. One more thing: Don't spam this ability, at least not until you have Ring of Aquila.
+Static Link:
This skill is the most dangerous, yet hardest to use effectively in my opinion. It counters carriers like PA, Void, Sven,... if you don't let the link break. Max it second if they have heavy damage dealers (high DPS).
+Unstable Current:
Allow Razor to move very fast, and counter any spell targeted at him. Use to deal with mages like Zeus, Invoker,... Max it second if you encounter them or else max it third.
+EYE OF THE STORM:
Wanna solo 1vs1 with Razor? Get the hell outta my screen! Level up this ability at level 6, 11, 16. It randomly attacks an unit within range so just make sure there are no (or few) creeps around you.
Starting Item: The basic items, notthing to discuss, the reason I don't buy Iron Brachor Clarityis that Razor is a range hero, it's pretty save to keep distance and farm. Also, mana is not neccessary when you know how to manage it, just save gold for Ring of Aquilaand you'll be fine.
+Early Items: +Boots of speedgive you move speed (of course).
+Ring of Aquilagives you mana regen, armor, damage, health, pretty much everything you need.
+Phase boots: THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT. It gives you damage, and more importantly, speed and the ability to move through units. This allows you to place you to place yourself in better spots, gank and avoid ganks. The Phase Boots allow you to stick to a single opponent, drain their damage by Static Link. Since positioning is critical to Razor, I suggest you buy Phase Boots.
+Sange and Yasha: Get this item and your life will be easier. You'll no longer be a squishy Razor thanks to it's bonus health, armor. The bonus attack and movement speed is awesome too. Suits Razor very well. I buy this item almost every Razor games. Remember to purchase Yasha first.
+Satanic: Time to rain down your wrath upon your foes!!! Strength, armor and INSANE LIFE STEAL. Razor will become an unkillable monster. If you get this item then most of the time it's GG for the other team.
+BKB: Diving deep requires some protection. I often buy this after completing Satanic.
+Luxurious items: Most of the time I choose to purchase Butterfly. But it's your choice.
+EARLY GAME:
Just keep calm and farm, avoid early ganks, try to last hit and harrass the lane opponent(s). Avoid diving, avoid dying. Control runes is one of the key factor contributing to the success of this laning phase. I usually don't buy a bottle, but if you feel like you need it, just buy it. The goal of the early game is purchase Ring of Aquila, Boots of Speed, and maybe a Blades of Attack http://www.dotafire.com/images/item/blades-of-attack.png . You can try go gank the bot lane if you're on Radiant or top lane if you're on Dire side. I usually do this at lvl 4-5.
That's it guys, I hope you enjoy my guide, I hope this is useful to you. This is the first guide I made so it's impossible to avoid all kind of mistakes (sorry for that). Thanks for reading! Have a great day everyone!
