Pros / Cons

Crystal Maiden is a very versatile hero and can be built in many ways possible, but she is also a very squishy hero. She is among the top squishiest in the game compared to some others have. This is mostly due to the amount of armor you only get and the only mode of escape (outside of items) is only your frostbite.

Hero Pairing

Overall Crystal Maiden is a great support that matches up with many people, but there are some heroes that just work synonymously with each other. Here is a list of them:

1. Juggernaut
2. Timbersaw
3. Mirana
4. Skywrath Mage (granted he is a support, his ultimate is great for a lock in of that time frame)
5. Sven

All of these heroes actually require a bunch of mana early-mid game, except for Timbersaw at the end, to even do quick kills or ganks.

Items

As for the items you can customize however you want, but the typical build that I go for is Tranquil/Arcane boots > Mekanism > Shadow Blade (for escape purposes) [Can also be swapped out for Force Staff or Blink Dagger] > BKB > Scepter > Scythe/Eul's.

The difference between Eul's and Scythe is depending on how the game is going. If it's going poorly, go for Eul's because it costs less money and you can easily use that for escape or team fights. Scythe is the best for team fights or escapes because of how long the hex lasts.

BKB is only a real necessity if you are facing a team that has a lot of stuns or ways to do slowing magic moves. It's also a safeguard from a lot of spells during your ultimate.

The deal with the two builds for Arcane boots or Tranquil boots really goes down to what you want to play as. Arcane boots are great on top of your aura for team fights and early game to help your partners get kills. I advise actually going Arcane boots if there is no other support or hero going into them. Tranquil boots are good for your own safety because of the health regeneration they provide for you will save you in escapes the whole game. Be wary of the cooldown on them whenever you get attacked or are attacking.
