I agree with all you guys that the items explained by this build are ****, no doubt about that one but I think some of you are underestimating the true power of Netherward. At first it is by far the most powerful spell of Pugna, I agree that it is quite useless earlygame but you will need it until you start your first push, so get it up and max it quickly till level 10/12 is really important.

When pushes start your enemy needs mana to kill the creepwave fast in order to defend their tower, Nethward drains mana in its Aoe which is a huge deal especially in the early-mid stages of the game. The Mana which is used from enemy heroes is converted into magic damage based on the level of Netherward. (Damage Per Mana Used: 0.75/1/1.25/1.5)

The increased points into Netherward are really useful because it skills ridicoulsly well with increased levels.

Radius: 700/1000/1300/1600
Duration: 25
Ward Health: 75/150/225/300
Damage Per Mana Used: 0.75/1/1.25/1.5
Mana Regeneration: -1.5/-3.0/-4.5/-6

Just to give you an overview. Just imagine Lina(Slayer) level 9 is defending a tower and useing both her nukes to kill the creepwave: ((140 + 125)* 1.5)*0.75) = 298,125 damage(magic damage after magic reduction) Not even talking about decrepifying her at the right time.

If you level up Decrepify instead you are getting 0.5 seconds longer duration per level which is horrendous compared to the scaling of Netherward.

For those who argue that you need longer duration to hit Nether Blast on a decrepified target: Why don't you try to reverse the process? Just Blast first and immediately after that decrepify your target. Works much better and leaves less reaction time for your enemy because he is slowed as soon as he can react, in most cases the other way around if you decrepify your enemy first he instantly knows what you will do next, don't give your enemies that shot. ;)

Just my 2 cents, and I fully agree again that this kind of "guide" is just takeing space away from dotafire's server('s), (Webspace).

Seriously...

First off, I agree with wilddeonpwn. Nether ward is USELESS early game, Vanguard, Shadow Blade, Daedalus, AC are the items that CARRIES would get. I'm sorry, but PUGNA can NOT carry.
Pugna can't even attack often enough to get the crits of Daedalus off.

Leveling up Decrepify past level 1 only increases the duration and reduces the cooldown. The two things that you would usually use it for, the slow and magic damage amplification, remain the same. Maxing Nether Ward on the other hand is an absolute must, as it increases the range, HP, and damage that it deals. A level 1 Nether Ward will pretty much be useless in a teamfight due to the small range and damage, whereas you can get by for most of the game with a level 1 Decrepify.

And just so people are clear, the main purpose of Nether Ward is to zap people that cast spells for a ton of damage, not to drain mana. It's nice, but in most fights the mana drain is negligible anyways.

Aside from that, Pugna is a very subpar "support" due to the fact that he's primarily a pusher, needs lots of early levels, and doesn't contribute much to most carry lanes. As a result, most people would choose to send him mid, although his squishiness and lack of mobility means he doesn't see much play nowadays.

A man must admit when he is wrong. I didn't know that his ward had mana degen on it. Now I don't actually know whether it is good, or more effective than getting decrepify, but I will say that I spoke out of ignorance and I apologize. Now I'm gonna have to try it out to know personally if it will work.

You learn something new every day

Thanks for the note

I see many do not know NETHER WARD

Use this skill

During the war the collective

You'll see that your enemy flee from the battlefield

Why

Because he does not have mana

The reason for this skill

So you can support your team

I hope you understand this subject

^_^

I don't agree with most of this at all.

Wilddeonpwn is right, decrepify should have a point at level 2, and Nether Ward is not good early game, even against a Lich or another early skill heavy hero, as the ward doesn't last long enough to harass enough.

Decrepify is a great skill for chasing and ganking, getting it at level 9 will make you miss out on some easy kills.

Jasiam is right, you should never carry pipe and mek. Get one or the other.

Vanguard is good on heroes that are in the fray all the time. Pugna should pretty much NEVER be in the fray. Even with some survivability items, such as Bracer, he will go down way too quickly. your job is not DPS, but supporting and pushing.

Assault Cuirass, Daedalus, and Shadow Blade are all item that are not good for him, they are DPS items. Pugna aint no carry, if you need armor don't get AC, get Shiva's. If you need an escape mechanism, get Force Staff. Instead of getting soul ring, you should get a void stone, as it can be built into Eul's or Scythe of Vyse. Two things as a support you should be getting.

I don't know what to think of this guide to be honest, and I'm not insulting you when I say that it seems like it was written by an inexperienced player. But that's what this website is about, learning and ****.
