Pudge is the ultimate ganker.
He really isnt too reliable on items, which makes him an easy hero, but what makes him difficult is to land those hooks. Hooks are the most essential part of his ganking power, using all his abilities at once is really a necessity.
Practice those hooks on bots for a game or two before playing people, although bots circle in the same area, making it easy to hook, try missing the creeps, or even hooking them when they push.
Pudge also needs to be stealthy, hide off in the trees or on a ledge nearby, make sure you have some room in front of you so when you hook them they land in the trees, unable to escape your rotting flesh.
Pudge is mainly a mid hero, he doesnt really need jungling, but using rot will help get last hits. You can jungle between lanes if you wish, but that means you are less likely to get that gank you're heading there to get.
Pros:
Initiator, brings in a first kill in a team battle.
Able to trap heroes in small spaces, killing them easily.
Can disable a hero with his ultimate until it finishes or it disrupted.
Cons:
Hooks can bring in an ally, preventing a kill, but also to save them.
Rot can kill you.
Hooks cost a lot of mana, so you will need some regen, bottle can always be used too.
