Crypt Swarm at level 1 is very inefficient, and also, Death Prophet on her own is quite slow. At level 1, Crypt Swarm is not essential as you have to wait only 1-2 waves to level 2 so that you can get a lower mana cost Crypt Swarm. Witchcraft also helps you escape is a level 1 hero like nature's Prophet tries to kill you before the game even starts by teleporting in the middle of the towers.
I meant that you should get Arcane Boots in early game, disassemble it to build your Bloodstone and then build a Phase Boots as your core.
The reason I wanted a Bloodstone instead on a Sythe of Vyse is because of the almost no cooldown factor. In mid game, the 4 second transform isn't nessasary as a level 2/3 Exorcism can kill most of the people you should be targeting(low HP supports and gankers with low armour) in less than 4 seconds, and your speed should eliminate all chasing problems. At a late game stage, it becomes much more useful as heroes gain high HP/armour.
Getting your nuke at level 1 for some extra lasthits is pretty much mid 101.
The only reason to get witchcraft is the movespeed, and you can just wait with skilling anything ultil you are mid.
And at is decently efficient at level 1, and why are you even worrying about efficiency? Are you worried about running out of mana while you have a bottle?
That is also why i dont like your starting items. There is no reason to start with clarities ever in the midlane, you can just bottlerush with 1 set of tangos and 2 or 3 branches.
I don't play Death Prophet, but I have a question: Why get Witchcraft at level one when you don't have your other spells yet?

I'm confused about your boots choice. Although you pick Phase Boots as your core, you have mentioned Arcane Boots in the guide. I guess it was a typo(though Arcane Boots are IMO quite viable in early teamfight-oriented picks), but it may be pretty misleading.

Also I wouldn't say Bloodstone is a must for Death Prophet. If you want more mana and mana regen, Scythe of Vyse does the job, plus giving you a Hex. Scythe of Vyse gives 150% mana regen + 35 inteligence. 35 int = 455 mana + 1.4 mana regen.
So.. if you are going to spend 5k on Bloodstone as your first item, I would think its better to spend 5.5k on scythe.

If you have a push heavy line up Necronomicon + Drums of Endurance is pretty good, you tank up a lot and can push really hard once you hit lv11. And of course the drum aura makes you go even faster. (This is if your team is also pushing a lot, so you get lots of tower gold). Honestly Death Prophet is a very versatile hero in terms of item choices imo.
Bloodstone isn't a must, but dang it's nice on her. It comes in smaller parts (nothing costs more than 1200, compared to 2700 for a sheepstick), and being able to get that Point Booster on early makes a big difference - you'd need to wait for 2100 to get an Ultimate Orb for a similar effect. Don't forget the extra hitpoints, regen and faster respawns too.
But yeah, rushing a Scythe of Vyse does make sense in some games with her.
Item build is weird. 1 point in silence is enough before you max it completely. Also early level in Witchcraft makes no sense.

I actually quite like the idea of an early Ghost Scepter, good stats, and more survivability - at least against non-nukey line ups.
Skilling DP is always a bit tricky early on - you want 3 points in Crypt Swarm to get max Damage/Mana and make it effective, but Witchcraft helps a lot with your speed and mana issues, while a point in Silence is pretty much essential.
I'd agree with these guys to get 1 level in Crypt Swarm first, the option to be able to nuke for last hits/push the lane out to grab a rune is important, you don't want to wait for level 3 before using it. Personally I go Q-E-Q-W-Q-R-E-E-E.
The reason for this is that it's both the most powerful, and mana efficient build. I'm actually going to do a quick blog on the maths, check it out.
> You say that viper and drow are better mid lane heros than death prophet? if you play low levels pubs then just dont create a guide
They are all decent mid lane heroes, only picked for different purposes.

Personally, I feel that your skill build is too messy. One point in Silence is more than enough early on and will be until you max [{Crypt Swarm]] and Witchcraft.
Also, you mentioned Ghost Scepter in your item build but did no explaining in why should you get in so early on.
Another is: Mekansm should not be listed as a luxury, if you can't get one by half way through the mid game, you can just leave it out as the heal falls off hard late game and a Pipe is way better at that stage.
