Could you include a skill build section? I feel like there is generally some confusion over how to skill her abilities.

I also agree that mobility items are much more useful but Eul, besides all the things you guys pointed out, can also be used to interrupt channeling, set up unreliable stuns on your team and very importantly: to purge silences off. Imagine you're against a Skywrath Mage that always saves his silence and ulti for you: you easily get rid of both. But it's totally situational indeed.

Anyways thanks for your answer, will see you around!

Eul's scepter of divinty used to be one of my go to items on Crystal Maiden back in 6.83 and before. However it is still a genius item to get against heroes like Ursa or Abaddon because how good the cyclone counters those heroes. It is also good to dodge things like Call Down and Impetus or something like that. I don't really get it often these days but it is situational good. It is actually pretty good against gankers like Queen of Pain or Storm Spirit because you can euls yourself or them to win time for your team to close in and kill them. But those heroes aren't played anymore so it is pretty situational.

As someone with also lots of hour on CM games (400 games wiii), lemme tell you I agree with everything you present here. Pretty straightforward, but indeed not very complete, as you basically only explain how to behave in the early game (with some general advices towards the middle game). If you focuse on that, maybe some added details would be nice indeed (like how to behave towards runes and warding).

You also say she has huge mana problems but then you never address that question again - and I cannot but disagree, you can't spam infinitely, but that's not a problem on itself as you're supposed to be going with the team and spending all your mana on teamfights in which you either die or go back to fountain after to reffil.

As for the item build: nothing new and also solid, although I would like to see Eul's Scepter of Divinity on the Situational and I have serious doubts about Aether Lens. I found that CM needs other things in the early game (support items and mobility/some setting up for ulti) so the timing where you would get the lens makes it around the same as when the other team has their BKB's up, so useless in that sense. Also, the only range that is augmented is Frostbite's, so do you really want to spend money on just some minor added damage to your spells and more mana pool? I think almost always it's better to get mobility -> Glimmer Cape/ Black King Bar --> casual Point Booster somewhere.

All in all I hope you keep working on this because it has the potential to be an amazing guide :)

Cheers!

First of all, HI!! big fan of your guides. Secondly, I agree with what you are saying about mobility, I think Mobility should come before other core items such as BKB, Aghanims, Glimmer Cape and other Utility items such as Aether Lens. I like mobility as the second core item (after tranquil boots) but two people have already pointed this out so I think my guide has an error somewhere. I`ll fix that! And thirdly, I really disagree with the Eul`s Scepter. I find that Eul`s, besides for the nice int, mana + mana regen, and movement speed, I find that Eul`s is a waste of 2.8k gold. A blink dagger or a force staff, is in my opinion, a lot more important that a Eul`s Scepter and there would be no point in farming up both as it usually takes me a long time to get a blink dagger/force staff as I am always buying team items such as wards and smokes of deceit. And honestly, the Cyclone on Eul`s is not very useful, the only thing you can really do with it is Eul`s someone after your Frostbite and Frostbite again (due to the cooldown) or Eul`s yourself to Blink away. Both of which I think are nice, but 2.8k gold is way too much.

And thank you for the kind words, I will continue working on this guide!

Yes! Mobility ftw! As a dedicated Lion player (suck it UltraSuperHyper) I love mobility and I think you should really reconsider if you should always opt for Aghanim's Scepter. I know it is great but it also costs a lot and you can get so many other items with the money and you can get them earlier. You know where I am going with this, don't you?
After putting so much emphasis on the early game and then you want us to get such expensive items?

Personally, I think a mobility item such as Force-Staff or Blink Dagger should always come before extension items such as Aghanims or BKB.

Glimmer cape is situationally a good item on her because, as you said, the nature of her ultimate and the item itself. However, the high mana cost is a huge problem so I only suggest getting it if you really need a bkb but you do not have the gold to buy one.

About the jungle Crystal Maiden thing I would like to mention that Frostbite does only 800 damage to the centaurs and the hellbears because of their 20% magic resistance from the cloak aura.

Also Crystal Maiden is really adaptable about item choice some items that are situational really good and I think underrated on her are Rod of Atos and Shiva's Guard also a Mekansm is pretty good on her is you have the mana for it.

About the Aether Lens

I think that the item was amazing on her before they removed the extra magic resistance. It is still a good item but more situational and never build first. I think if you want this item early you should get Arcane Boots, a Magic Wand and an Urn of Shadows.
Aether lens is amazing on Crystal Maiden is there is alot of emphasize on your Frostbite. This is in games with kiteable rightclick heroes like Sven, Ursa, Wraith King.

However mostly is a Force Staff or a Blink Dagger superior to the Aether Lens but don't think it is bad on her.

*I really liked to build Glimmer Cape and Aether Lens for the extra magic resistance but now doesn't make you an Anti-Mage anymore :(

Also Crystal Maiden is not a viable mid! I have played here often in 1v1 mids and I have to say she was strong and I mostly won those games but that doesn't mean she should be played as a mid. She offers almost nothing with the boost start you get from going mid and she doesn't scale that well in the lategame as most mids do. Crystal Maiden is such a strong early game hero and than you want to destroy that advantage with going mid with her?

I beg to differ, although Crystal Maiden does not scale well into the late game as well as other mids and yes, she does have a very good early game and going mid may be a waste of her powerful 250 magic damage at level 2, going mid allows you to get fast levels to quickly transition into a early-game team-fighter.

I would say that Crystal Maiden is situationally a viable mid-laner. As althouh she is not actually very strong in the lane, she benefits a lot from the solo experience.

This is an example of a Mid Crystal Maiden playstyle:

GC is in no way core. It is true that it is extremely useful for Cm but there are situations in which it is completely useless.

Yes I would say GC is definite core, not situational. Its just too handy. Sure BKB is great but the Glkimmer Cape adds to your supporting since its ally targetable, and gives you magic resistance to make you less squishy. Sometimes ill even go glimmer before dagger because I've been dying a little too much. Its half the price of BKB and gives you what you need.

As well Id like to see a Friends and Foes section here, just so people know the heroes that combo really well with/rek CM. IMO: Best Parter - Ursa. Worst Enemy - Pudge
