N'aix, The Lifestealer. [6.87] Beginner Guide For Lifestealer.

Introduction

Hello! This is the build I use while playing Lifestealer. Lifestealer can be a strong carry when given the chance. His ability Rage is basically a BKB on a 16 second cooldown which allows him to get out of sketchy situations, and he has great sustain and damage in lane thanks to his passive and Open Wounds. He can either be played in a lane (Safe or Offlane) or depending on the situation, can be played in the jungle if needed. I hope this guide is insightful for you! feel free to ask any questions, constructive criticism is always welcome! and be sure to check out my other guides Here!

Items

First, I prefer to get Quelling Blade before I get Boots, It makes farming easier and it provides more damage to creeps which means more lifestealing for you! After that get your Phase Boots, when activated they provide a movement speed boost which is great for getting into, or out of fights. Try to farm your Armlet asap, when toggled on it provides lots of damage and hp, it can also save your life in fights if you can effectively toggle it on and off. After Armlet you can choose between two items, 1.Sange and Yasha or 2.Skull Basher. I prefer the S&Y, first due to the bonus movement and attack speed. But if you're having troubles losing 1v1 fights, Skull Basher might just be the item for you due to it's 25% chance to stun for 1.4 seconds on each attack! along with a bonus 85 damage when it procs. After I have both S&Y and Skull Basher complete, I like to Build some HP so I get a Heart of Tarrasque which gives max HP percentage based healing. It also gives 45 Strength which is more damage which is always nice! Then I build my Skull Basher into an Abyssal Blade. You can finish off the build with either a Assault Cuirass, a Monkey King Bar, or a Daedalus. This build gives our old buddy Lifestealer plenty o' HP and auto attack damage to finish off the game strong!

Skills

Rage

When Lifestealer activates Rage, he becomes spell immune and gains 50/60/70/80 attack speed for 3/4/5/6 seconds. Rage has a cooldown of 16 seconds.

Feast

Lifestealer's attacks damage enemies for 4.5%/5.5%/6.5%/7.5% of their current HP. Lifestealer is also healed for the same amount of bonus damage dealt with each attack.

Open Wounds

Lifestealer rends an enemy for 8 seconds, slowing their movement speed by 70% which is slowly regained by the target over the duration. Lifestealer and his allies are healed for 50% of the damage they deal to the effected target (this also includes spell damage).
Open Wounds has a cast range of 200/300/400/500, and has a cooldown of 24/20/16/12 seconds.

Infest

Lifestealer infests the body of a target unit, becoming undetectable inside. He can then explode from the host body, dealing 150/275/400 damage to enemies in a 700 radius. If the infested unit is an enemy creep or a neutral creep, he can take control of the unit's ability to move and attack, and when consumed the creep will heal Lifestealer's health equal to the creep's current health. Does not work on enemy heroes. Infest has a cooldown of 100/75/50 seconds. And is Upgradable via Aghanim's Scepter.

Control

Lifestealer gains control of the hosts body, allowing him to move and attack with the unit. The controlled unit shares Lifestealer's movement speed.

Consume

Lifestealer eats the host body from the inside out, exploding from within.

Assimilate

Lifestealer swallows an allied hero, allowing them to hide within him. Any healing Lifestealer receives is shared with the hero within. When an assimilated hero leaves Lifestealer, they erupt outward, dealing 300 damage to enemy units in a 700 radius.
(This ability is only available via Aghanim's Scepter).

Eject

Ejects an Assimilated hero, damaging nearby enemies.
(See Assimilate video above for effect).

Lore + Sources

In the dungeons of Devarque, a vengeful wizard lay in shackles, plotting his escape. He shared his cell with a gibbering creature known as N'aix, a thief cursed by the Vile Council with longevity, so that its life-sentence for theft and cozening might be as punishing as possible. Over the years, its chains had corroded, along with its sanity; N'aix retained no memory of its former life and no longer dreamt of escape. Seeing a perfect vessel for his plans, the wizard wove a spell of Infestation and cast his life-force into N'aix's body, intending to compel N'aix to sacrifice itself in a frenzy of violence while the mage returned to his body and crept away unnoticed. Instead, the wizard found his mind caught in a vortex of madness so powerful that it swept away his plans and shattered his will. Jarred to consciousness by the sudden infusion of fresh life, N'aix woke from its nightmare of madness and obeyed the disembodied voice that filled its skull, which had only the one thought: To escape. In that moment Lifestealer was born. The creature cast its mind into dungeon guards and soldiers, compelling them to open locks and cut down their companions, opening an unobstructed path to freedom while feeding on their lives. Lifestealer still wears the broken shackles as a warning that none may hold him, but on the inside remains a prisoner. Two minds inhabit the single form--a nameless creature of malevolent cunning, and the Master whose voice he pretends to obey.
