Items

Starting: Your basic regen items, plus some stats. The reason I put a Circlet instead of another Slippers of Agility is so that I can build into a Wraith Band easily. If you plan on building to, or don't mind throwing items away, feel free to get the second pair of slippers.

Early: The first things you buy are the complete Wraith Band and Boots of Speed. It is essential to get boots before trying to rush anything. You should eventually upgrade boots into Power Treads, but sometimes this can be done after your initiation item. Ring of Aquilas is to help you spam your Shadowraze and Bottle is if you're at mid.

Initiation: The next thing you buy after your very essentials is something to help you initiate with your ultimate. I don't like Blink Dagger because it gives you no stats, but get it if you like it. A Force Staff is when you want to not spend much money on this, or you like moving your enemies. My personal favorite is the Shadow Blade because the stealth is on even during your ultimate's delay animation, so it gives your opponents absolutely no chance of canceling the ultimate unless they have a gem.

Core Late Game: I get a Yasha for its movement speed, as well as to build into a Manta Style. The Chrysalis is there because it offers a 15% increase in damage for a measly 2150 gold. I get a Manta Syle for pushing power, a total of 50% more dps, the ability to dodge stuns, mind games, escape, etc.

Skills

Shadowraze: Your farming ability. Don't use this at all early game; it has pathetic damage at low levels, push the lane, and waste your mana. The only exception is when ganking or farming in the jungle. Remember that the attack occurs in the direction you face, so don'r run away and use it without turning. A good thing to note is that the second raze is about the range of your right click attacks. When the enemy runs while you attack them, cast the third raze, and when they close in on you, cast the firsy raze.

Necromastery: Shadow Fiend's signature skill. This gives the Shadow Fiend an awesome mid game presence. It also makes farming absolutely essential. If you are being outlaned, you are basically screwed. Note that if you die, you have to gather souls again. Also note that your ultimate depends on the number of souls you have.

Presence of the Dark Lord: Not much to say. Amplifies damage. Pushes lane slightly. Skilled late game, as your other abilities take priority.
