Lifestealer, by noob, for noobs

Intro

Hello everyone, and welcome to my first guide. Before you start reading on, remember that I'm a big baby noob at Dota but i do understand most of what you shouldn't do and what you should do as a noob. This guide is in no way anything for being professional, this guide is to help noobs not to drag their team down and how to get a few kills safely. This guide is gonna be ALL about survival as life stealer. Life stealer is a cool looking strength hero and the first hero i played in a dota match (which went as good as you'd think it would for a first timer) because he looked cool. now that i have a little bit of experience i am much better with him and found out he's a good hero for survival if you're a noob, because the biggest problem with noobs is that they die, often early on, and that way give the enemy a huge advantage. This life stealer guide is to help noobs stop dying as much so they can be helpful for their team.

Items

Now, when someone with a lot of experience in Dota will see the items i put in the list... they probably scream at me trough their screen. But let me explain why i chose these items.
first off you will notice morbid mask in there, the reason i put it in is because when i play life stealer for the second time, i wondered if the life steal would stack, and it did, having morbid mask AND feast will give you so much life steal you won't even need healing items and you will be invincible, especially with the fact that life stealers feast ability drains based on how much health the enemy has, you can get so much life from enemy heroes and deal a lot more damage because a potion of the life you steal trough your ability comes back the enemy a damage. So morbid mask gives you A LOT of life steal and a lot of survivability, which is what you want to have as a noob

The magic wand is not very special, it's a very good item early to mid game not only for life stealer, but for almost all heroes.

Bracers/Drum of endurance, these are a good beginning items to get that extra mana regen so you can use rage, open wounds and infest more.

Boots of speed speaks for itself, more running speed to catch up to people, or run away from them.

Mask of madness/vladimirs
offering/ Helm of the dominator. It depends what you want to turn your morbid mask into. If you play a quick pub game, most of the time it will not last very long, that is when i chose mask of madness, it gives you 5% more life steal and an active ability to do more damage, the 30% extra damage taken is bearable with all of your life steal and health regen. If you notice that the game you are gonna play is gonna last a while, pick helm of the dominator, later you can turn this into a satanic for ultimate survival. If there are a lot of team fights or if you want to be a little bit more of a team player, pick vladimirs offering, as this gives you an aura giving everyone in it life steal.

Armlet of mordigian, this item is what most people will agree with, life stealer has enough health regen and life steal to take the 40 damage per second, use this to take down enemies quickly.

phase boots/power treads. Use phase boots if you are more offensive to get some kills, the active walk speed will help you chase down enemies and the extra damage helps to, the power treads is what most people should pick though.

Maelstorm, this is so you get more attack speed, damage and a nice lightning attack on top of your regular attacks, this item goes nicely with lifestealer, you can later upgrade it to a Mjollnir

Desolator, it's such a good item for so much more damage. it removes the enemies armor and gives you so much damage, with this, feast, a life steal mas and an armlet, you can kill anyone with ease. On top of that, it goes nic with the Maelstorm/Mjollnir

Satanic, make this from helm of dominator if you chose to.

Skills

Feast. I usually max this out first, as i try to get life steal as soon as possible, so i don't rely to much on healing items. But if you chose to play more defensive, go for rage and open wounds if you go offensive. Rage is basically a built in BKB (Black King Bar: gives temporary magic immunity) but with extra attack speed on top. when you max it out you should use this a lot so make sure you have enough mana to sustain it. Open wounds is what you use to mainly chase down weak targets, or use it on a high value target in team fights, the slow is very useful, and the fact that everyone attacking someone who is open wounded, gets life steal from him, can be very useful in team fights.

Gameplay

At the start of a match, go to a safe lane (top for radiant, bot for dire). to start getting some creep kills. make sure you don't auto attack, so you don't push the wave towards the enemy tower, only attack when an enemy creep is low on health to finish him off, if there are 2 enemies in the lane, ask someone to help you in that lane. Remember, if you get harassed by the enemy, just attack them back, your feast should give you enough life steal to stay alive and they will eventually run away, when they do, DON'T chase them, you will go into your doom. if you get attacked by 2 people at once, and you don't have someone helping you, then run away and maybe use your rage if you are in a really tight spot for the magic immunity, infest has helped me countless of items with escaping, so don't forget you have that, use it on a creep when the enemy can't see you, so they won't know where you are, or use it on a teammate with higher run speed, because you aren't strong enough yet to survive 2 people at once. once you have a morbid mask at least 2 points in feast rage and at least one point in open wounds, start harassing the enemy. they will usually try to stay in lane and heal up, if they use a clarity potion or healing salve, just hit them once so they lose the effect. when you see your chance (you are not close to their tower, enemy has some health missing/has almost no defense, you are full/almost full health and the enemy doesn't have someone supporting them) go inside a creep using infest and try to ambush them that way, but it's best to keep the infest so you can escape if anything goes wrong, you can try to gank him by infesting a friendly teammate and make them start attacking the target (spirit breaker is very good with this) it's not necessary but helps. after that use your open wounds ability in him, use your rage ability and start killing him, if they try to attack back, you just regain the health they take, if they try to run away, they can't because they are slowed a lot, if you have phase boots, use them to chase him down if needed, but don't go into their territory. if you can pull off a kill, you get some money and exp to get more items off the list. remember, SURVIVAL IS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY, if you die a lot, just stay with your team, way back and buy items that have a radius or healing items to aid your team, if you keep feeding the enemy, you lose. once you feel confident that you have a lot of good items and you are at least 3 levels above most of the enemies you can start going aggressive. the rest of the game should play out and you should have the win in no time if your team did everything good. if not, you can try and pull your team back up with your advantage.

End

Thanks for reading this horrible guide, it's my first guide and it basically a wall of text, remember that this guide is to help noobs not die and it is in no way anything to become pro. please say anything i did wrong in the comments.
