Jungling: Beyond The Basics

THE BASICS

If you've played any MOBA style game before then feel free to skip the introduction. For those who new to this game I recommend you to quickly read through the introduction as well so you'll have a basic knowledge of what is the purpose of Jungleing.

What is Jungeling?

A Jungler is someone who spend most of his/her time in the Jungle which is the part between two lanes. This will lead to more gold for both the Jungler and whoever is in the solo lane. More gold = happy time!

When to Jungle?

Jungling is extremly effective in a pre-made team, because of the much better communication and you can actually rely on your team. However this does not mean that you can't Jungle when you playing with random people. When your team doesn't have any hero who has a good sustain and can even hold up even two heroes if need to, you better off just stay out of the Jungle, the last thing you want is to get the opponent feed on your solo laner.

HERO SELECTION

Who is OP at Jungeling?
Every Jungler has pros and cons. One might be a really good ganker but slow at clearing the Jungle. Another one could clear the Jungle really fast but fail at ganking and/or supporting his/her team. So there is no correct answer. Try some of them out and see which one you like the most.

STRENGTH

Lycanthrope

AGILITY

Intelligence

Of course you can Jungle with every Hero but it won't be effective. These Heroes are better as a Jungler.

JUGNLE CREEPS

Neutral Creeps will spawn every minute after the first creep spawn, or at 0:30, assuming there are no units or wards near the camp. Aggravated creeps will follow units out of their camp for 7 seconds, at which point they will return to the camp area. This delay in the return can be used for Creep Pulling, which pulls Neutral Creeps into contact with Lane Creeps, and Creep Stacking, which causes multiple camps of creeps to spawn in one area.

Each team's jungle includes one Small Creep camp, two Medium Creep camps, and two Large Creep camps. On average, a run through the jungle (not including ancients) will yield 513 gold and 977 experience.

Small Creeps < Medium Creeps < Large Creeps < Ancient Creeps < Roshan
Pretty Straight forward yeah?

You'll start from the small creeps and finish your route with the Ancient Creep. Don't go mad and try to kill Roshan. He hits hard. Trust me :) You'll need your entire team if you want to kill Roshanr or wait till you get high level and if you have a good sustain you can solo it. But it is advised to call your whole team in case if the enemy team wants to steal it from you.

If you see that your enemy is dominating one of your lane, try to gank so your lane gets an advantage. Even if you don't kill the enemy, he might need to go back which is a huge advantage. Less time in the lane = less gold.

1 - Small Creeps
Small Creeps are the weakest of the Neutral Creeps. They give very little gold, and act more as a starting point for Jungling Heroes. They give anywhere between 65-102 gold, and between 123-144 experience.

An average Small Creep camp yields 81 gold and 133 experience.

2 - Medium Creeps
Medium Creeps are slightly tougher enemies. They deal more damage, have more health, and have access to abilities, but shouldn't be too much of a problem for most Heroes. They give anywhere between 81-155 gold and 144-258 experience.

An average Medium Creep camp yields 92 gold and 202 experience.

3 - Large Creeps
Large Creeps are very difficult enemies. They all have access to some abilities that can be dangerous if they're not approached with caution. They give anywhere between 86-161 gold and 160-284 experience.

An average Large Creep camp yields 124 gold and 220 experience.

Ancient Creeps
Ancient Creeps are very powerful, magic resistant creeps. Their danger is made up for in rewards, if a Hero can survive long enough to reap them. They give anywhere between 215-346 gold and 279-393 experience.

An average Ancient Creep camp yields 264 gold and 355 experience.

Roshan
Roshan is a unique creep that spawns near the middle of the map. In addition to providing a large experience and gold bounty when killed, Roshan also drops the Aegis of the Immortal. The third time he is killed in a game, Cheese will be also drop from Roshan's inventory upon death.

Roshan yields an average of 352 gold and 1789 experience.

ITEMS

This is really depends on the Hero you choose so I this isn't the place if you looking for a full item build.

You will need some sort of sustain - HP regen or Life Steel, Block, Evasion since you will be constantly attacked - you need to regain that damage somehow.

These Items can be really good early game. Quelling Blade, Stout Shield, Morbid Mask. The Quelling Blade is mostly used by melee heroes but it's still a decent item for ranged Heroes because of its low cost. Power Treads are a fairly decent boots. Make sure you change the Attribute to Intelligence or Agility if that's what you need. You can do this by Right clicking on the item or use the hotkey if you wish.

HOW TO BECOME A BETTER JUNGLER

The main important is you have to communicate with your team. If you see that they're in trouble go and help them.
Be aggressive and gank a lot. If the enemy doesn't know where you are they will be in constant fear. If you gank Top, go bot immediately because they aren't going to expect you there.
Remember that if you fail to kill the enemy it doesn't mean you didn't do any good to your team. If you do enough damage you will have to go back.

Always check the time and try to grap a rune. If you find a double damage rune that almost garantees a first blood if you don't mess it up. Runes respawn every 2 minutes.
If someone in the enemy lane is missing get ready to fight for the rune.

I'M TOO LAZY TO READ ALL THAT!

I know many people will just skip through all the sections and just read a part or two. This "Quick Read" is for them. Although I do advice to come back and read the whole guide to have a more in-depth knowledge.

You want to start from 1 > 2 > 3 > Gank > First Blood
Red - Radiant Jungle creeps
Green - Dire Jungle creeps
Black - Ancients (stronger than a regular Jungle creep)

Quick skill guide

Lifestealer W -> E -> Q
Chen E -> W -> Q
Lycanthrope Q -> E

Also put a point on your R every 6 levels.

These are just a VERY QUICK and SIMPLE skill guide for some of the Heroes. I highly advise to look up a more in-depth guide for the hero you want. This is just a general guide, I don't want to go in too much detail how to build certain Heroes. Maybe I'll make a more in-depth guide for some of my more favorite Jungler Heroes.

THE END

I'm sorry for any mistakes in the guide (including grammar mistakes - English is not my first language)

If you have any suggestion please leave a comment. If you dislike the guide feel free to tell me why and I try my best to improve it.

I'm still working on the guide. Going to add videos, talk more about creep pulling and ganking.
