Imperator of Lightning

Synopsis.

Welcome the "Imperator of Lightning" guide created by Jeron for the dota 2 hero Razor.

This is an easy to follow guide with no long winded explanations.

This guide will help you spend gold frequently in small amounts so that if you do get killed, there will be little to no gold lost. But each item you buy will be a part of a "better" item.

I will explain what each item does and why you need it.

This is not a general guide for playing Razor for the first time. It is a guide for playing Razor more aggressively with lots of utility to surprise the enemy and keep you and your allies alive. Really is the best of both worlds.

This guide we will strip out a lot of the "expected norms" and concentrate on his strengths, making only those traits stronger.

I have not yet found a weakness in this guide, this build remains strong from start to end, however is aimed at winning as early as possible, all comments welcome.

I hope you enjoy much success with this guide.

Items

Take 6 Tango's to start, allowing you to stay in lane for longer at the beginning.

You will want to build a ring of Aquilla as quickly as possible to get the mana regen aura for yourself and your laning partner if you have one.

Next, get yourself an Urn of Shadows, so you can heal yourself and allies, you will be getting a lot of charges through out the game so you can use them quite casually. Your team mates will love you.

Next, focus on building the hood of defiance. Its quick and easy to build, and its difference is noticeable. I also always prefer to get the cloak for the first part to make the most of the spell resistance.

Moving on, you will want to build yourself a set of Blade Mail, by now you will be engaging hero's frequently, and they will most certainly be tricked into attacking you. Combined with the reflect damage of Unstable Current, Blade Mail will do massive amounts of damage to hero's, if this build has been followed correctly, you can use Blade Mail to dispatch multiple enemy hero's.

The last Item I recommend before moving into your own choices would be to create Aghanim's Scepter, this will ensure your already powerful ultimate, will become stronger, and giving you a nice chunk of stats.

The rest is up to you, though Mjollnir is a personal favorite of mine due to making Razors auto attack much quicker, and adding the very nice AOE, whilst sticking with the lightning theme, the chances are this is only for overkill as you are likely to have already won.

Skills and Levelling.

Plasma field. A strong AOE that will be a frequently used skill, it will earn you many kills, it has a slightly larger range then the animation and does more damage the further it extends, also to note that as it returns it also does damage, so its a two hit skill. This skill is great to use behind trees as it does not require a visible target (does not hit invisable hero's though) for it to be used, looks fearsome, can use it to make hero's fall back and deter their push as they will have died from it a few times. This will want to be maxed early. FOLLOW SKILL BUILD.

Static Link. This skill we are ignoring, it it a great skill indeed, but not for this build, it will require another build / focus, this build is more "usable" as static link can get you killed often while trying to use this skill well, and you are no use to your team dead. This skill will not be touched until 22. FOLLOW SKILL BUILD.

Unstable Current. This is a fantastic skill that in short, negates the need for you to use boots at least for early game and also damages enemies if they attack you whilst slowing them. Giving Plasma Field, and also your ultimate Eye of the Storm more opportunities for a kill. This skill you will want to max second. FOLLOW SKILL BUILD.

Eye of the Storm. Despite what other players think about this skill, it is certainly an awesome ability, that in short for 30 sec's gives you an automatic self casting auto attack.
A good defense is a good offence I say, use this skill when you are about to be attacked, or just before you fight a hero that can silence you, 9 times out of 10 you will win even if you are silenced as this ability works once cast, even if you are silenced it will carry on hitting the enemy where they are expecting nothing but an auto attack. Combine this with Aghanim's Scepter you have multi hero slaying abilities / creep wave slaying abilities (great for farming gold) as a standard, 30 seconds is a long time, and often hero's who escape by stealth will appear to try and kill you once more, only to not realize the buff is still present. Agin, you can pop this ability to use an a deterrence, hero's will not want to go near you or your allies if you have the storm clouds around you. Use this to your advantage. As a standard, you will want to put ponts into this and max it as soon as you can. FOLLOW SKILL BUILD.

Stats. OK, I know its not an ability, but pumping stats early is very important for this build, forgoing Static Link means that you can start pumping out your stats earlier then usual, which really is such a basic principal that many even experienced players tend to ignore. In short more stats make you stronger, and it shows, your health pool will suddenly start to appear larger then most the others hero's and all your skills are damage focuses, combined with the utility your items give you. FOLLOW SKILL BUILD!!
