The main goal of this guide is to show my Silencer build and why I think it has been forking for me in my matches. As you can see, it is a semi-carry build, with a focus on mid to late game lane farming.
In the early game, you should focus on harassment and allowing your carry to farm. Hopefully, you have a melee carry in your lane with you. I typically take the bot lane if I am Dire, top if I am Radiant. You can also mid with this build, but I haven't been as successful against characters like Phantom Assassin or Pudge.
Be sure to deny as often as possible, this way your enemy carries are very gold hungry. Using Curse of the Silent to inflict minor damage on them over time, and throwing Last Word on them when you are ready to move on an opponent with your carry. This will upset the enemies spell casting in early match ups and inflict a lot of damage right away, or in the event that they run to base with less then a quarter of health left you can typically get a kill when Last Word completes.
Only attempt to go in on an opponent if you can cast both on them for the battle, at least until your carry is nice and fed.
If you get good with the Curse, you can usually get both of your opponents with it at once, helping harass nicely.
Usually around the five minute mark, I'll get the Flying Courier if the other support seems to be doing poorly or if Im the only support. Otherwise, grab those Observer Wards and place them so you can see ambushes and sneak attacks. Your carry will thank you.
Now, in Mid Game your focus is going to be getting that Mec. This way you can insure that your carry is alive during tougher battles while you continue to harass as snag a few last hits. Once you have Mec go for the Vail. This will be very useful once you start spamming your Glaives in team fights. Combined with your Arcane Boots regaining mana, you'll be able to inflict a lot of damage against even the tankiest of hero's. Keep in mind, Glaives works best when you've been hanging out with your carry and stealing Wisdom from other enemies.
Now that you have these two items, you should be able to take some of the opponents pretty well but stay with a teammate if you can. Your armor is rather low and thats a downside of the character. Another thing to keep in mind for Mid Game is the Euls. I find that I use it on myself more often then another character. Usually to give me a few seconds to let my team come in a clean up who ever is targeting me.
For late game, get Ags and continue Silencing the enemy teams during team fights. If you use the Vail before Silencing and you have Ags Scepter you will do bonus damages with your ult. This will be hugely helpful to your team while you mech to keep them alive and finish the matches.
A lot of the time I'll get Maelstrom to help clear out keeps while Im building up my mana again from using Glaives. This will help you farm more effectively and help tower push a little too.
This is my favorite character and my typical place style with it. I've done fairly well as him with almost 73% win rate and a 2.7 KDA ratio in 37 matches. Remember, you're not supposed to run in and kill everything, let your carries do that. So you won't have huge kill scores unless they are really bad at the game.
If you have any suggestions or ideas to improve the character build let me know below! Im trying to figure out a good way to incorporate the Orb of Venom into Silencer some how...
Thanks!
