At the beginning of the game you'll have to focus on maxing your quill sprays and bristle back passive to be able to stand against 2 or 3 opponents easily without losing your lane.Bristle is one of the "changing game/situation heroes" that can easily "turn upside down his lane situation" because of his abilities, for example if Bristle is against Sven, Witch doctor and another disable support in tri-lane even if you get disabled 3 times when youre trying to farm, you'll be able to survive and might even get a triple kill because they have all they disables on CD and your nasal goo and quill spray stacks will demolish them after even 2 small stacks. Basically the whole point of Bristleback is that during offlane you wait until they make the move then you turn everything on them and win the lane.... the best thing that can happen to you it's if the enemies see your low HP status after their harassment and they try to dive while you spam your quills and nasal goo stacks.
after the early game has ended you simply adjust your "tankiness" to the enemies (spell resistance for magical dmg, armor for physical... simple!)
