What about Desolator and Hyperstone? always had great results with this combo - towers, farming & supporting teamfights.

HMMM... Interesting. I personally don't like getting Mask of Madness on Sniper, he's too squishy if he gets caught out of position.

Eye of Skadi is one of the best items on Sniper. I say this because:
****ing Snowball Bullets Are ****ing Majestic
    You Slow People
    You Become A ****ing Tank
    ****
Drow Ranger's Ice Arrows, Eye of Skadi Is So Much Better
You Stun AND Slow
What's Not To Like?

Eye of Skadi is generally my big item on Sniper, I very rarely go without it, and almost never go without Satanic, which is so much better than Mask of Madness, by about 5% extra lifesteal, possible 200% lifesteal, str, better build-up, MOAR TANK *****ES!

I like playing Sniper and always laugh when I see Mask of Madness on a Sniper, as any good player will be able to punish it (Gotta love dat Blink Dagger Naix, SUCK IT *****ES!).

Why don't you start with Wraith Band? It makes it so much easier to last hit, and don't give me that **** about "Starting with Wraith Band makes you so ****ing squishy early on" because it doesn't, you get Wraith Band, Iron Branch Iron Branch+2 Pooled Tango and you're fine, trust me, I have a 100% winrate with those starting items :P

In very rare situations where your team is losing and you need to do something to win fights, getting Skull Basher+ Monkey King Bar is legit, I did it once and my team won. "But Tigerre, you're obviously a noob, everyone knows that Skull Basher is ****ing terrible on Sniper as he's a ranged hero." STFU, imaginary person that should probably not be used in any other place than my guides. Yes, I know that it's not the best, but I had to do something to win the game for the team. When you get mini-bash after bash after mini-bash it becomes very difficult to not get kills.

Good guide overall,

Yet it's interesting to see none of the alternative builds mention desolator which trainwrecks enemies in 3 successive shots.

IMO, for the early stages of the game MoM is a very viable choice, but it should be transtioned into desolator+hyperstone if the game prolongs to late/superlate game combats.

Question: why do i see so many people use the Desolator with sniper? really curious about that. It definitely makes sense to get a ton of agility for that permanent stun with his headshot skill for both you and your team. Is it because of the desolator's passive?

I'm new to Dota2. My first match was very bad. I decided to search some builds and found this. I used Attack speed build. I'll share my 2nd match score. Thank you very much <3

About your caster build, and how you increase your skills. I am assuming that you use his Q in order to farm, but I feel that this is kinda an ineffective method of farming when mana regen isn't really going to be that extensive until Orchids, and that is going to be someway past the laning phase because we're not starting that till after Drums. For that matter, Take Aim is how Sniper survives in lane. He is squishy, and he has no escape mechanisms. He will not get a Shadow Blade as core with the Caster build either. That's why I feel like not maxing Take Aim first is incredibly dangerous and leaves you with little to work with, plus little means to run if ganks do come, and will come, your way. Shrapnel has really great range. And by the time you need it, you should have plenty of damage. And it's slow even at 3 is still very nice. That's why I felt that maxing Take Aim first, then Shrapnel, then not leveling Headshot until after Q is maxed (or even taking only one point if you really need that mini-stun to stop a channeling ability instead of a point in Shrapnel) would be a better build. Because all the damage will be largely from a combination of his Q, autoattacks and Orchid. The loss of damage from his W isn't so bad.

Also, I'd suggest getting Drums after Orchid, because that's more of a complimentary item than anything. Your Orchid should be rushed, since you need it as soon as possible. Like, right after whatever boots you get. If you really need damage, I would suggest getting a Wrath Band or even building it into Aquila if you REALLY need mana.

And because we're taking Take Aim first, Tranquil Boots are unnecessary as you shouldn't be taking damage. If you are. Say, in a lane with some long range harass, like Shadow Demon, then by all means get them. But otherwise, he should be safe now. Sniper's early game should be played cautiously and with his Caster build even more so.

Also, I wondered if Ethereal Blade would be any good for this build, and I thought that maybe it would be but only in conjunction with some kind of positioning item.

Maybe consider adding in some means for escape such as Force Staff. It would be quite helpful for this build, as it's largely utility with a mix of autoattack damage.

waffl3x, it is no good, you can max out the 2 of them in the same time, like, one point in one and one point in the other but take aim makes you more survivable and realy annoying
on the lane has you can punch but cant be punched

what a lot of people dont see is that if u play right, you can do well whit sniper in any game, but depending on the other team formation you can´t out carry them. Basically, DOTA ISN'T ALL ABOUT KILLS!

It's up to you depending on the game. It scales relatively well per level (+10 damage average), but then again take aim/shrapnel have more overall utility. For example, shrapnel is a lot more relevant at 10 minutes than 25, but headshot just gets better as you stack attack speed. Shrapnel/take aim can probably save you from a gank with the moveslow/extra range, and also help you take towers.

Your call. There might be a very legit time like vs. QoP where she's going to blink on you anyway (nullifying take aim), but the extra damage from headshot is very damaging to her early game. Guides are suggestions not orders.
