This guide is starring spectre, our favourite purple ghost. Spectre is a fantastic late game hard carry that makes nowhere on the map safe. Her global presence is what makes her really scary. Die in a fight? Just buyback and rejoin. Busy splitpushing bot while fight happening at top? Ta-daa I'm here!
First, I would like to talk about the "Late game" play style of spectre. Learn spectral dagger first to ensure your safety. In case you didn't already know, spectral dagger gives spectre free pathing, which allows her to move through terrain like cliffs and trees.
As for boots, phase boots give better chase-down potential and should be bought if enemy team has slippery heroes (e.g. Slardar, Puck). However, treads give fantastic stats which suits well with spectre's kit.
To get a good start, try do dual/tri-lane safelane. If your teamates are setting up for kills, haunt and try to participate in as many kills as possible. If you get a great start, radiance should be completed by 20 minutes, after your first major item and you start being very lethal. You will farm alot quicker and whenever you haunt, there will be five radiance illusions hurting the enemies. Shortly after, you should complete manta style which ensures more damage and also RAT potential.
After manta style, the rest of your items are situational and luxury. If you bought vanguard, consider upgrading it into abyssal or crimson guard. If you bought urn, spirit vessel has great damage and healing. Heart will make you and your illusion even tankier. However, take note that if the enemy has someone that can make illusions of you (terrorblade, shadow demon, dark seer,) you might not want to buy heart as the illusions will be extremely annoying with radiance and extreme tank.
The reason why you would want an early item such as vanguard or HotD is so that you won't be completely useless in case fights break out.
Desolate does transfer to illusions.
Dispersion however, does not.
The second build on highlighted in this guide focuses more on using your global presence to take good fights around the mid game. Therefore, early fighting items are fantastic, such as drums, urn, blademail and diffusal blade. For this build, we would max desolate first over spectral dagger as spectral dagger costs quite a bit of mana considering spectre's small mana puddle. If you want to be actively fighting, maxing dagger will quickly drain your mana, so desolate should be maxed first.
Thats about it. I hope I managed to help you with spectre in 7.07. Have fun and go spook your foes with haunting illusions!
