Hey everyone!

As you know, recently we have started hosting tournaments for Dota Underlords. Since everyone has been coming up with suggestions and ideas, I have decided to create a thread where we can collect all the feedback and see what we can implement.

Thank you for playing and we are doing our best to improve your experience! :)

It was pretty fun but I'd recommend 64 player tournaments with 3 rounds with top 4 progressing in round 1 and then top 2 in round 2 in order to get to the finals.

Hello Damu here.
I've got a few suggestions on the format of the tournament. The format itself isn't bad, the problem is the game itself being autochess in my honest opinion. Current format is 1st person of lobby advances, but in autochess there is an inherent rng factor, don't get me wrong, skill > rng, but all things equal good players can get consistent top 4 finishes, but once inside the final 4 there is much more of a luck factor based on unit rolls and items that might sway who gets 1st especially inside a money tournament.

What i have seen done, and works well to determine best player despite any factor is a bo3 point system, where the lobby plays a normal bo3 and gets assigned points based on final standings at end of each match and who ever gets top 1 or top 2 whatever by points advances.
This way it mitigates the rng factor of autochess inside the final 2-3 players that happens and best player always comes out on top because he can consistently place better in points.
Even just making top 2 advance to semi finals, then bo3 point final would feel kinda better. Depending on player numbers ofc.

Problem of course is it might take a bit longer since each game can go to 40min making it harder to organize xD.
But thats my suggestion.

I'm just happy tourneys like this exist, it is awsome for the community, keep at it!

Great tournament, but needs a format change indeed. I suggest 2 or 3 sets of qualifier matches, where players earn points equal to their placement, followed by a finals match where the players with least points make it in. Finals could be BO1, or could also use a points format aswell.

It was fun and I got nice experience but in the next weekly tournaments I would be like to look at new format: BO2 based on point's system and final match. Thanks for great tournament

Great job organizing and dealing with all this. BO3 I dunno if it'd work since people can get very salty and leave if they get last place in the first/second game, ruining it for everyone and takes quite some time.

My suggestion would be to simply go through the top 4 on each match and join lobbies (first 4 of lobby #1 vs first 4 of lobby #2) and so on. Then on the final lobby do a Bo2 with points system.

8 lobbies - 4 lobbies - 2 lobbies - 2 final matches

That would be 5 games which I believe is acceptable even though it might be quite a bit of time if games are long but then again, only those who win (and ofc organizers) waste more time. Only 1 match like today is heavily decided by RNG (not making excuses btw, I know I'm bad :D).

1- Hades4u is a great organizer.
2- People who don't read the rules plus people who ask stupid questions should be kicked out of the tournament.
3- The match should be always 8 players, the game designed this way other than that it is not a series tournament( so add bots to the game or make it public match if there is less than 8 players)

I would agree with Eclaustus and Joffy, I think that taking the top 4 of each match through rounds would be a good system. The bo2 qualifier round caused significant logistical difficulties for organizing and required collecting screenshots and tiebreaker statistics. Taking the entire top half of a match mitigates RNG enough for me. Besides the way this tournament worked out anybody who finished below 3rd was eliminated after one match anyway.

I would like to specifically thank Hades for their hard work admining the tournament and dealing with all of that and thank you guys for putting this tournament together. I had a lot of fun.

Would prefer like hard bots at the first game if there isn't 64 players.

This was a ton of fun. Thank you so much for organizing.

That said, I do think that the later rounds (at least the finals, if not the semis) should be done with a point system/best of system. Getting RNG'd out of a tournament never feels good.

I also fully understand that this is a fairly casual community tournament so if it remains the way it is I will absolutely continue entering!

Again, overall this was a great experience!
