Troll is extremely squishy and is easily kited. He has no lockdown except bash which in turn requires you to be in range of the target. Before you get your bkb any disabler would turn you into a happy meal. A carry with no type of regen except lifesteal is useful only if you can hit your target. If you cant hit you wont live.
This is why something like lifestealer is picked up - innate lifesteal bkb hyperstone instaheal.
Other stompers like drow or sniper have extremely potent kiting skills via frost arrows and headshot.
