There is Strength, Agility and Intelligence on top of the basic stats: Health, Health Regeneration, Mana, Mana Regeneration, Attack Damage, Attack Speed, Armor, Magic Armor and Movement speed.
Strength increases your Health and Health Regeneration. Agility increases your Armor and Attack Speed. Intelligence increases your Mana and Mana Regeneration. Each hero has a specific stat assigned to them and for every point of it they have, their attack damage is increased by that much. Whenever they gain a level, these stats are increased rather than the actual stats themselves by a constant amount each time. In the end, movement speed does not increase from any of these stats.
As towards actual game play changes, DOTA is... Less forgiving when you die. You lose gold the moment you die, the amount of experience, gold from last hits and lane control you lose during that time is ridiculous. There is also denying creeps, where when they fall below 40% or so, you can attack your own creeps. If the damage that kills them is dealt by a friendly unit, the amount of experience given off to your enemies is lowered.
In DOTA they have something similar to Inhibitors called Barracks. There are two instead of one, melee and ranged respectively. When one is lost the opposing creeps will have increased health and damage in accordance with which barracks was lost. These structures, do not come back like inhibitors.
Fights are also quick paced and end in seconds most of the time, being careful is a higher priority in this game than anything else as when you die... You stay dead for a while.
Between LoL and DotA2, DotA2 is an indepth game, requires logical thinking and common sense. But no fear! this game will teach you that even if you lose alot. Don't be scared to ask for help and don't be timid when the taunt you, just tell them the fact that you are new and you are transitioning from "X" game, I'll always play practice games with some new players to teach them or link them to my live stream to listen on how i command a team or why i get this and that item. This game you're able to "pull agression" of creeps by auto attacking enemy hero and then canceling it. I'll make guides on how to do this if i become a DotAFire Editor, it will teach you the basics on how to farm, and exp if you cannot farm or you're getting owned in your lane.
Hi i just started Dota 2. I used to play LOL but i was wondering if there was a way to change my skill level because i put it as "average" but clearly i need it at "new". Please help. Thank you!
