I have trouble playing Storm Spirit mid against QoP or Sniper basically because of the ranged harass they can do. Any suggestions as to how to mitigate this.
Storm Spirit isn't all that great mid regardless, best you can really do against sniper or QoP is outfarm them and have teammates gank them. Sniper is extremely squisgy so if you get some teammates with you he can be ganked quickly as he has no escape. If the person you're laning against gets close enough you can use Electric Vortex to pull him into tower range, which can guarantee a kill early game. Otherwise, SS has no real counters to either of the two.
Against sniper, always be in the high ground. Sniper can get lots of harass if you go out of position, and he won't be able to last hit easily with the miss chance.
Instead of harassment, do something more like kill attempts, since sniper won't be out of position very much, and he's squishy anyway.
He's probably going to out-last hit you, so go offensive to make sure that when he does last hit, he risks dying.
Against QoP, whenever she blinks to you, return her harass if you aren't going to die.
You both have similar attack range, but she has blink, so if you are low, don't hesitate to regen right away, or if you have to, go to fountain.
She will probably be bottle whoring, so stop her from doing that.
Try to out-last hit her if you can.
She can clear creep pretty well with her scream, so if you're going to leave, beware of that.
Storm Spirit's Static Remnant does 140 damage at lvl 1. This can be used to 'flash farm' the creeps (killing 2=3 creeps at once), effectively preventing the other mid from denying. Also, this will constantly push the equilibrium up the hill so you can dominate rune control. With a Haste or Invisibility Rune you can easily get a kill mid or in another lane.
QoP can be a problem, but you can kill sniper at most lvl 4.Try playing agressively against sniper, there is not much to be said for QoP,she's one of the best mid heroes.
Dear friends,
Storm Spirit is an awesome hero to solomid with.
The playstyle defers depending on the opponent type.
For instance….
1. If you have a better lane controller than SS as an opponent, he would obviously kick your *** if you try to go gangsta style on him.
If this is the case, you can play a passive game by focusing on denying your creeps like there’s no tommorow in order to pull the creep fight on your upground. There, you can “outsmart” the tower and get a little farming going.
By doing this, you get to overfarm and over level your opponent. Once this objective is achieved, the chance to kill on mid lane turns your way instead of his.
2. You have a better lane control than your opponent.
In this case, is better to be really aggressive from the very beginning in order to push your opponent back and abuse the free farm. Keep in mind to also try and deny as many creeps as possible in order to keep the lane steady on either mid way or your own upground.
Having the creeps on his upground can provide serious dissadvantages such as :
- Chance to miss when last hitting.
- Higher risk of getting ganked.
- Less chances to deny your creeps properly due to tower attacks.
However, if you are a spineless coward and resent going mid against a strong mid lane opponent, you can always go farm the jungle like a baws. :D
If you're up against a 'better lane controller', the creeps should never get to your tower. Your opponent can just maintain the creep equilibrium and zone you out. In which case as a mid you call for a rotation and get a support to come and help you.
Having your creeps against their tower is not always a bad thing, especially at 1:55, 3:55, and so on. You make it very difficult for the other mid to last hit, while you can freely grab the rune. Getting the rune is huge - one powerful rune effect + 3 bottle charges. The tower hitting your creeps ensure that you only miss out on one creep's worth of exp. And besides, after that wave the creep equilibrium will be back on your side.
