Has anyone ever tried putting a Shadow Blade on Omniknight? I think it could contribute well with his Degen Aura and Purification. He could just pop it and run around in a team fight then wait to throw out his purif for the game changer.
Just a thought.

With the money going to Shadow Blade you could of bought a Mekansm or the ingredients to Pipe of Insight which are better for the team. If you really wanted to get up-close an personal a Blink Dagger serves that purpose just as well.

Naturally, in a real game you get the support items first... this purely theoretical.
And see, this is where we differ. It's not just a matter of being close to the fight, because then you're just as vulnerable as the next guy. For 900 more gold, you could basically imitate Invoker's Ghost Walk, except you would also debilitate the enemy's atk speed as well. In addition, you get an added 30 dmg and atk speed to boot.

It has nothing to do with range. Tide is a common support and he is melee.
It's because his animations suck, as well his ultimate is a big warning flag. You just run away once it's popped, or you can get a diffusal and purge it. Also, shadow demon is popular right now and his ultimate can purge it as well. Omni is just an easy to deal with hero, he's good in pubs but that's it.
Tidehunter is picked because of his beast ultimate and his excellent ganking skills.

Anyway, some friends of mine like playing with Omni soloing the suicide lane: you have Purification to gain costant health and to counterpush if the creeps get too close plus Repel to avoid ganks. It's only viable in pubs though, in organized matches I think anyone would chainstun him before he can use Repel or just harass him to death until he finishes his mana.

The invis doesn't help but to ensure your survival or pull small tricks like getting close to the enemy easier and cast Purification. There are only a few situations that warrant a Shadow Blade, 1. If you're at a huge advantage 2. To avoid danger like stuns at the initial moments of teamfights 3. For fun.
If you cross out 1 and 3, then you only buy Shadow Blade for the purpose of survival. If you're going to chase someone that usually means you've won a battle. If you say you wanted the bonus movement speed then Phase Boots serve that purpose just as good. If you're worried about mana, buy Soul Ring.
