I`ve created this thread here, rather than at joinDOTA, as a way for users around here to vent at me. If I`ve offended you, tell me why and where and I`ll also do my best to explain to you my reasoning in a little bit of a better tone.
Based on this thread, some people here aren`t 100% happy with the way I conduct myself on these forums. If you have a problem with something I`ve written on one of your guides or something that I`ve said to you in a thread, please post a link here (for reference) and I`ll be happy to address your concern.
However, I`d also like to invite everyone to read the comments on this guide. I`m not trying to suggest that anybody else`s actions are justifying my actions, just that I interpreted this community to be full of trolls, and that all the guides were just trolls trolling trolls. However, maybe I took the flaming a little too far, and caused some less than friendly feelings, so I`d like to make ammends. Post your offenses here, and I`ll try to get to them one by one, either explaining my thought process to you in a more in-depth manner, and also by editing the original comment to have a slightly nicer tone. Don`t expect me to suddenly agree with your post or your guide, but I`ll at least throw a coherent thought or two together to justify my opinion.
I'm fairly neutral about you as a person, but I will say this:
DOTAFire is a pretty small community atm, and it's not really getting any better (currently). Frequent contributors like Atlas, Loveless, etc. who used to be pretty big in the community have not been visiting as often. Guide quality has gone down overall; currently, the #1 top recent guide has a rating of 65%, whereas months ago, it was almost guaranteed to be in the 80+% range. And from what I've seen, many of the newer visitors don't stick around for very long.
Now, quite a few of these problems would require more moderation on the administrative side, so you shouldn't concern yourself with them. However, at the very least, you should set a good example for the community. Given that you are a (relatively) prominent figure here on DOTAFire and on joinDOTA, your words and actions will influence the community far more than most. And, perhaps more than anything else, DOTAFire needs a good community if it wants to be successful in the future. Call me a pessimist if you want, but it's not looking too bright so far.
My guide is relative new and it got 80%+ and the other storm guides got 60%... so yeah, good guides gets thumbs upped :3.
If the day should ever come when we must go, if some day we are compelled to leave the scene of history, we will slam the door so hard that the universe will shake and mankind will stand back in stupefaction. Joseph Goebbels
Here is how I see it. If you are working for a site like joinDOTA where you conduct yourself in a professional manner, why not make it uniform in the DOTA community as a whole? If I were someone representing a well known site or organization, I would make damn sure to conduct myself that made me and the site look good. What I don't understand is, why did you come here just to troll and flame while promoting joinDOTA? Why not make a troll/flame account with no repercussions? If you were a representative of my site and you behaved this way with members of the community that I was trying to serve, you'd be fired. In the business world credibility and reputation is everything and you've done a good job so far of tarnishing that reputation. I originally shy'd away from joinDOTA because I knew you were some form of staff there, and automatically passed judgement about how things are ran by your behavior on these forums.
That being said, I don't think you are a ****ty person and I don't think you need a hate thread dedicated to you, this is the internet and **** like this happens all the time. I think for the sake of joinDOTA and your personal reputation, you should just conduct yourself professionally or stay away from "dota troll bait." All in all, my frustration with you at DOTAFire was more about the staff at DOTAFire not doing anything to try and prevent this behavior or act quickly on your actions. To be honest I was more pissed at DOTAFire staff than you Ham.

I came here for a few reasons. First, I`m not a super-dedicated troll in the sense that it`s the only thing I do here. I am quite curt and disrespectful to people who spend 5 minutes writing down a skillbuild and an itembuild that worked for them in a pub game, and who don`t take the time to analyze a particular hero`s strengths and weaknesses. For that, I am sorry.
However, I also try and provide some sort of insight into my own thoughts about particular heroes when somebody has taken the time to write a full guide; I often comment on a particular question or on something that players often overlook when writing a guide. For example, on a number of Sand King guides, I mention that Veil of Discord actually does more damage (when coupled with Epicenter) than an Aghanim`s Scepter. I often answer short questions left in the comments of guides. With these quick responses, sometimes I`m not very respectful, calling the person making a mistake a ****** or something like that, but more often than not, I try to be neutral. For the times that I am less than pleasant, I apologize.
The main reason I`ve stuck around is because I take the time to help people. I`ve given out a number of betakeys to people who need them, including 10 keys a few days ago in a random thread about a giveaway. I`ve also had conversations with a bunch of people on this site and taken the time to walk them through the game of dota as a sort of coach. I`ve played a few games with Loveless, letting him know where I think he can improve. Recently, I`ve played a number of games with Burma Jones and Enter Reality (along with some of their friends), trying to teach them some of the basics to the game.
Have I made some poor decisions with my words, yes. Is everything I do around here bad, I hope not.
