I'm kinda curious how they want to select heroes in 1v1, all pick is pure ******ness and counter-pick fest, and if everyone can choose 1 hero then it forces you to play at least 2 matches (also - pudge games).

As far as i know you cant see the enemy selection in only mid.

I think it'll be crowded with those people who always argue about going solo mid lane with another person who wants to go solo mid lane. Hell, it might even grow popular amongst those people who just want to prove to someone that they can kick their ***es in dota 2.
I'm more of a pub player, so I won't be playing this, at least.

Hell I can't wait for this. I have played about 50 practice games against a friend in 1 v 1 and boy is it fun. I mean sure there are some heroes you will never pick such as Wisp (Trust me I've done it and it doesn't work). But it is sooo much fun because if you get 10 kills behind you cannot come back so it brings the skill more into it so yeah I really want this.
Your new diet for heroes; You will need 4 wards (cuz wards taste better), 1 set of tangoes, 1 mango, 1 cheese.
With this you can make a nice Tango Mango Cheese platter. You can wash this all down with a nice bottle of water, Can be flavoured with red, green, yellow, blue, purple AND GOLD!
Caution: Taking roshan 3 times is required.

Even, if you don't see what your enemy picked, AP would be ******ed. There are just certain heroes that will always get picked, because they destroy 1v1 lanes.

Talking to you Viper, Lone Druid, Silencer, Razor, outworld devourer...

I think either multiple matches, or AR would be best. Same hero obviously.

Problem is is that there are heroes that can dominate 1v1 lanes, but fail miserably to other heroes that can 1v1 lanes.
I almost always beat Viper 1v1 as Tinker, because Rocket/Laser Pointer skill build can stomp the early game laning phase. However, if you pick up a late game hero like Lifestealer, magic immunity combined with a decent amount of farm will enable you to stomp in the phase where Tinker doesn't.
As always, everything is all about decision-making and skill level.

I'm a bad mid player and I'm looking forward to this. So many times it's 1st pick invoker or pudge. Or both. I never ever get involved in those fights so it will be nice to actually get some practice in. I've always found mid the best position to practice last hits and denies. So yep I'll just be using it for practice and won't be taking it even slightly seriously.

Yeah, but if you want to Counter the aforementioned heroes, you need to have very specific picks.
Naix is good against Sylla, but will loose to a lot of other mids. Tinker is good against Viper, but will loose to Silencer or OD.

If you don't see your enemies picks, Naix would be a lot more risky to pick up, than one of those. Also shadowfiend should dominate a lot of lineups, since there is no way to gank him and he can just outfarm most heroes in 1v1. (at least in the long run)

Yes, this is probably true, however I wonder if playing a hero such as Leshrac and just focus completely on pushing would be a viable play-style. Not just simply trying to kill the other hero but rather trying to out-push them

I think pushing should be pretty viable.
Im not sure if Leshrac is too good for that, because he can get easily initiated upon, if he uses edic. But KOTL or Pugna, that can spam out the waves like crazy and get a fast Necro should work. Also DS, who can skip creeps pretty safely against a lot of heroes could work out.

you can do all sorts of cheezy **** like getting blademail or necrobook to win a 1v1.

i once did a 1v1 sniper because a friend wanted to and i got a necrobook and wrecked him. :P
