Why do you play Dota?

learn to take risks, and to test my patience.

I play dota for the strats and team work. My cary player often tells me to play Counter Strike GO for crazy team work but the variables in dota also appeal to me. When I first played dota it was "what hero can cast the coolist spells". Now it is "how can my team of five win."

I mainly play Dota2 to go on Russian servers, be wisp and TP them to the enemy fountain. I made a montage thats 9 minutes long and ill upload it to youtube soon, just the rendering is a pain. Anyone know any good video renderers?

My drive to play is normally nostalgia, Wc3 was what I grew up with, I mean essentially I've been playing it since the 11 years its been out, I used to sit there and watch my uncle dominate on ranked and then I discovered the custom games...the rest is history.

I think a lot of sticking with the game though is the fact you can never be the best player and there's always room for improving as even bot designed to have a perfect play algorithm can essentially be beat with team work and innovation. Then developing further, I came to enjoy and respect team play a lot, its a unique interaction in ARTS games that not many other games can hold up to the importance of team play on a competitive level as high as DoTA.

DoTA2 will be long gone before anyone comes close to reaching the skill ceiling, and that's something I can respect in a game. I think Chess is the closest game I can compare it to, but think Chess with a hundred times the number of variables. Its a challenge.
