Sange and Yasha- Underpowered, or just Ignored?

I've never actually played DOTA 2, but I have watched quite a bit of streaming, both professional tournaments (Go Zenith!) and pub matches from pros (personal favorite is Blitzdota). I have seen nearly every single item bought except for Sange and Yasha. I know I'm new and all and maybe I'm just missing it, but is it really that bad? The greater maim effect seems really useful, and the stats it provides would help nearly every single agility carry. Just think of Drow's arrow slow with the maim, or PL's illusions procing slows left and right. Is it because its expensive, or Manta Style is just better, or what? I'm seriously puzzled why this item isn't a prominent pub stomping choice.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Sange and Yasha can be disassembled into Manta Style and Heaven's Halberd. With this in mind, Sange and Yasha becomes a solid purchase on heroes such as Luna, Razor and Terrorblade.
Dude I said that :s
I'm going to go back on my previous post - and say an SNY built within 20 minutes for the right hero could be powerful such as Huskar? :D
but the problem is still the same - for 4.3k you could get better items.. (armlet for example - on huskar)
The only thing you could do to make an SNY worth while is decrease the recipe cost for Yasha and Sange (individually) and increase the cost of the recipe for manta and add a recipe cost for Heaven's Halberd (recipe cost of 400 for sange OR yasha would be quite cool)
The problem being, is then yasha would be OP and Sange would still be sh.t
Yasha is a good item, which you can then build into Manta which only costs 600 more, and has an active the removes debuffs as well as increasing your dps.
Or just get Yasha + Drum.
Long story short, either SnY needs to be cheaper or Sange needs to get better as an item. It's not a good item.
slow is generally useless and as mentioned, there are too many better items for the price. If you really wanted a maim, halberd is much better as it shuts down an enemy carry. Manta is better for MS. so you basically have two better items providing the same tools.
The only time you MIGHT see an SNY - is if a hero rushed it, most probably ranged with solid farm, like POTM (1 maim = undodgeable arrow) for it only to be split into the two above items later on in the game anway.
I also don't think illusion can procure maim, like bash for example. That would be insane.
And no, it definitely shouldn't be picked up on Gondar.
