On early game, we know that Anti-Mage is very fragile as well as Terror Blade in this game.
Very standard item in mid game for AM is Sange and Yasha because he needs HP and mobility before it is late game for damage. For some reason, he can disasemble this S&Y for Manta later.
HP -> Mobility -> Damage
(Early -> Mid -> Late)
I sometime do make Phase Boots with Drum and Aquila Ring. You should test it. Max Mana burn first, put only one lvl blink before maxing Magic Resistance. In just case, if you get harashed from Skywrath or other like that, max Magic Resistance before Mana burn in order to survive like mobility.
It is all up to you. I never farm with battlefurry.
I'm telling truth but not trolling... I really hate team when they call me for help that I still have battlefury without hp, illusion.... yet i was very fragile against nukers... even without bkb!
I prefer urn, wards/sentries, dagon, before I go dps... because I have maxed blink in mid game.
Anti-mage has high and versatile potential as NOT A HARD CARRY. I have pulled off support anti-mage recently with arcanes, urn, drums,vlad for fellow tiny and went lategame all guns blazing with scythe of vyse.
You can say, you all are discovering his midgame impact with this new found maelstrom build.
But please, dont just stand there. Discover more.
Lemme give you a hint of item that synergizes with anti-mage so well, the pros are ******s for not using it
Starts with an E and ends with a Y
here is proof of mine... I have been playing about 95 % teamplay... finished game in short time.
I went to make daggon as fast as possible... I earned a lot golds for etheral blade... veil discord has been sold... arcane boots sold too.... and also.... mekansm too....
Last game... I did four times for double kill with mana void... and one time for triple....
How about you? Farming for 30 - 40 minutes and in late game you go finish? That's shame.
@armc3j: Thank you for the comparison. (Can I use it in my guide? ) There are few mistakes you make in the Bottle + Maelstrom section:
- Bottle + Maelstrom acctually is 3500 gold, not 2300 gold. Yeah, only 850 gold less.
- And about the Bottle, it'll give you the regen to jungle effectively, not the lane. I decided to buy 2 tangoes for the lane instead.
- Maelstrom can be upgrade to Mjollnir is a great advantage, I think.
Sorry I got my math wrong... I totaled it up quickly and it seemed right.
Of course you should never follow a single build blindly. You should make choices based on your opponents. Every build has its ups and downs,band may be better suited to one situation than another.
However, the reason guides(and builds in general) exist is so that players can familiarize themselves with the hero in general, what items are good on them, and how you would generally build them in a cookie-cutter game.
What makes Anti-Mage so devastating is his rat capability due to astonishing mobility/escape with Blink, and using Mana Break to destroy enemy mana pools to limit their response and win teamfights with Mana Void. Spell Shield helps somewhat.
But Anti-Mage has to have lots and lots of farm to be relevant. That's why Battlefury is core on him. He needs attack speed and damage, so you put Butterfly on him. It also gives him evasion and armor, which gives him more rat capability. Manta Style is a purge and escape mechanism as well as slight stat bonus, and damage bonus. HoT gives him HP, not necessary but nice sometimes.
BKB and Linkens are self explanatory. Explain to me what this guide is missing as far as item suggestions go. I see everything an Anti-Mage could possibly build. Except Battlefury.

Almost every hard carry with a Battle Fury or Radiance is capable of that.

Anti Mage may use Phase boots, Tread boots or Arcane Boots. He is not just a hard carry.
That's why I'm telling you truth. Every game you can NOT use the same items such as battlefurry, manta, and go on... against different foes per game.
Anti-Mage needs completed different items. Must be unbalanced items and nothing else.
If you do make the same builds... you have 50 : 50 to win and or lose, this is the same story.
Stop trolling with different names, KYFOID
