RotT = disappointment... DotA2 = high hopes

@above thats exactly what it is [was]. It is basically a remake of the original dota, cept it wasnt updated at all. poor graphics, ****ty pathing, etc. DotA2, however, did not disappoint thus far. Went on a bit of a marathon of watching replays and i must say. This game will most likely take me away from my beloved LoL.

I want to get away from LoL.

I know how you feel. I'm at that point where i dont even want to win anymore cuz so many people piss me off in game. And DotA has so much more room for improvement, etc.

DotA is like Everquest. HoN is like every MMORPG after Everquest. And LoL is like WOW. I loved everquest. Thought the copycats were good. Then played WoW and never looked back. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate Everquest and what it did for the genre. But it was time to move on and evolve. Again let me be clear I played ultima online(old one), shadowbane, and darkfall. Three of the most hardcore pvp "lose all your equipment and items if you die" MMORPGs you will ever play. I enjoyed them a lot but overall WoW is still a better game regardless of "care bear" status.

LoL is innovative yet simple, appeals to the masses and is ultimately more fun to play. And last I checked the reason to play games, sports, etc initially is for fun then you get competitive. I want so much to like DotA2 but it seems like they didn't even try to get creative. Speaking of creativity. LoL Dominion map, look it up. One more reason they are ahead. Ohh yeah and they won most fans award at gamescom. Hahahahaha take that dota2.

Edit: I don't mean to say DotA2 won't be fun. Nor do I mean to say that it won't have a huge player base. I also do not want to deter people from playing it. This is not a LoL advertisement post heheh. Just my 2cents on the subject. That is all.

If you don't like Dota 2 fine, no need to bash it...

Also Dota is a custom map on WC3, not a full game like LoL. It cannot win any awards because it is a CUSTOM MAP and is limited to the WC3 Engine, which doesn't allow for much customisation.

Creativity my ***, Dominion gameplay has been used time and time again.

It's rather stupid to compare a full game with dozen of people working on it while getting paid to a community mod limited by a game that is made by one person.

Get back to LoL and let me and many others enjoy Dota.

dota 2 isnt even officially a game yet. they just had a tournament at gamescom for advertisement of the release. i guarantee you dota 2 is going to be more popular than league because all the people that are good at lol are just waiting for dota 2 to come out because dota is relatively dead compared to lol. this would be because it was a pain in the *** to play and its seriously outdated now.

dota 2 is like soccer and lol is like american football. sure, lol wins in america, and at the present, but dota 2 is loved worldwide. notice how none of the 16 dota 2 teams were from america. throw in the american fanbase that dota 2 will get and you cant even compare the two.

Not going to lie but the comparisons people have made in this thread are pretty dumb to say the least. Dota is more of it's own game with the way it's gameplay and tactics. LoL is a simpler and more toned down version of DoTA. HoN is basically a generic copy of DoTA. RoTT is somewhat in the middle since it's not so balanced and it's kinda a mix of HoN and LoL difficulty wise. Personally I've played all three and I've only stuck with LoL for the longest since HoN lost my interest after going F2P and RoTT finished CB a month or so ago.

Also Dota 2 will flatten LoL in statistics. You know there is a LoL.CN? No probably not, Riot also ignored those sets of Data using only EU and NA, and LoL.CN has many players.

Aslong as Valve releases good servers in SE Asia, and especially China, they will rake in the money. If they don't China and other countries will pirate Dota 2 and use their own private servers to ensure no lag.

I posted it 3 times because it's how I felt and I don't see the need to reword it or type it again. Also I made it clear I don't want to deter people from playing dota2. Even said I bet it does well and I signed up for beta and will give it a shot. I just wanted someone to prove me wrong and thus far no one has. Not a LoL fanboy. Just looking for a reason to switch but don't have one yet.

@lich I have been comparing dota2 and LoL not original dota. Also HoN is a standalone game and is not that great and an exact copy. I feel dota2 is a copy with better graphics probably less bugs and maybe a bit more fun but stil a copy. I also never told anyone not to enjoy dota2. I made it clear that there would be people who like it. My point is my analogy holds true LoL is WoW to Dota being Everquest.

@restrictnine Again lying to yourself. You know the EU servers had to be split from so many people playing LoL? hours of Queue time and people still played. 15 million registered worldwide. Do the math bro. Also football is way better than futbol. So your argument is moot hahhahahahahahhaha
