So, I have just recently gotten into DOTA scene. I played some DOTA 1 for about 3 weeks in till I was accepted into the BETA of DOTA 2. I have to say I like it much more over DOTA 2 since it is so much easier to buy items.

It seems like I like to play as Puck the Fairy Dragon. However, I can't seem to grasp what he exactly does. Is he support or does he do DPS I'm not quite sure.

As you can tell I am very new to the DOTA scene so I am playing as many games as possible. I just had a few more questions. Is there a way to upload a custom avatar? In DOTA 2 is there a hero much like Ahri in LoL play style wise?

Thanks so much hope to see you guys around the fourms!

Well, from what I've seen when playing Puck is that he is both, but more dps than support. This is due to his nice combo of skills: qewr.

As for the custom avatar, do you mean for this forum? If so, the site admins/mods are working on it, and it should be done relatively soon.

He's neither dps nor support; he's utility. This means that he helps the team win fights and helps the carry get kills, but also takes a bit of farm. Usually the 3rd priority farmer, Puck builds items like blink dagger to increase his mobility and help chase down fleeing heroes or set up a good ultimate.

Just like the other topic... Utility isn't a main class role. What you described a "utility class" is basically what a support is, it's just support heroes can't normally kill other heroes on their own very often. Which is why I said hes Support and Dps, just more support than dps.

I did not read what it says in the description in Dota2 but for me Puck is a Ganger and Initiator.
In the early part of the game you go around ganging, roaming, making some kills, making some assists, because your combo is very good when the foes don't have items of massive hp.
After you get your fair deal of kills and you have at least a dagger you become the initiator, now in team fights you will initiate alone or with the other hero that has dagger. After you let all your spells damage your enemies you can phase shift and let your team(the carry of the team) to take the frags.
I don't play him as support because in late phase of the game without items like dagger, Shiva's, Bloodstone, etc you wont stand a chance.
When you start to roam/gang (level 6 till 10) buy some wards lets says to be on the safe side.
P.S.: Don't get Bottle as first item.

You shouldn't really ever get bottle for anyone unless your soloing mid lane.

In most cases I've seen it's better to save for items rather than a bottle, especially in lower skill leveled matches(obviously concerning this thread).

It would depend entirely, though. Ideally, yes, mid should be the rune controller and bottle carrier. This is dependent on if you have a ganker mid, though. Also, you could have a side-lane ganker/roamer that benefit from bottle and could still have rune control. An example would be having a carry mid, which isn't the best thing, but it certainly can work. Having a VS, Sand King or Puck in a duo lane that can regularly gank, and they would be the one to grab bottle.

But again, in a perfect world your ganker is mid, and that ganker has bottle.
