After a very close captains draft game today I went back to see how we managed to pull off such a win even though the kill count was in the other teams favor.

Turns out that the close match that we all thought we had was actually a very lopsided affair. The GPM was always staying in our favor and the xpm only went their favor for a short time in early game.

Our Doom and me on Enigma were both topping the GPM board with Doom and our Brewmaster topping xpm. Their only hero who was even remotely close to our doom was their Bristleback.

Every time we won a fight we usually got a tower from it. While they didn't have enough wave push to even get to our towers before we were back up.

Kinda funny to look back and see that the hard fought tooth and nail fight was actually a lot more one sided.

It might have seen close because their draft was strong in the midgame.

Even if you are ahead in gold your enemies have a change of fighting because their heroes are designed to do that.

Both drafts were strong. My team relied on tanky cores while theirs relied on higher damage cores. Their Bristleback and Earthshaker were doing work that game too.

Situations like this do happen when teams focus on killing rather than pushing towers
