Permission to use database?

Hi there,

I am currently in the process of developing a iphone app as a guide/reference for dota2, and I am wondering if I could have permission to use the guides/images/data available on this site to be embedded into the app. I hope the app will greatly help new comers to dota/dota 2. I myself have been playing dota since version 6.12 and am a very big fan and would love to contribute more to the dota society and would be great and a big help if I could use the stuff available on this site.

I would recommend using the database found here. Not that you couldn't use what is here, because none of the database here is original content, it is all made by Valve. However, the wiki is what we use for our database, and it is pretty much guaranteed to have less flaws, as well there is some extra stuff on the wiki that cannot be found here in regards to items/abilities/heroes/etc.

Thanks for the reply Atlas, could I also ask if you know whether it is allowed for the images on dota2wiki to be used? On the wiki it says that the images are copyright by Vavle..

As are the ones here. So that is up to valve whether or not they would allow you to use their images, that was the point I was making in the first post I made. I think it would be perfectly fine to use the images, they allow many other sites to do so, but I'm not going to speak on Valve's behalf.

I would say go ahead with it.
